Sheep Posted November 12 Posted November 12 (edited) There were a few good things about his last presidency, nothing that would ever outweigh the bad or come close(project warp speed, for example). I support him in the capacity that he's capable on some level of setting good policies. I cannot say the same for Joe Biden or for Kamala Harris's agenda which was meaningless(and I was fiercely defending her up until election day because it's still a better option overall than trump). There was a lot of gum flapping in 2016 about how he's going to tank the economy and start world war 3, which his successor actually did. Ultimately we were given the choice between sh*t and diarrhea so if one was good enough to feign support of, the other isn't that far off. There's also the factor here that if he gets even a fraction of project 2025 to pass the backlash will be big enough to revive the American left, which would be a net positive for the entire world in a decade or two. If he redoes 2016 he'll be handing a receding economy off to his successor but we'll be thriving in the mean-time and the hateful rhetoric he rode into office on will not have much of an impact. If he actually follows through on the craziest campaign promises this time, it will be a dark chapter in history but pave the way for actual progressive politicians to gain broad support. tl;dr I want to be optimistic now that we have no choice but to live through another 4 years of him. I would still trade a finger to keep that man out of office though. Edited November 12 by Sheep 1

Katygato Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I hate his guts, and somehow I despise Elon Musk even more.
Bloodflowers. Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I would actually love to have genuine conversations with Trump voting ATRLers to understand why they voted that way (and if they are a top by any chance) but because of hostility on ATRL they are closeted about their support as if like they are gays in Russia. At least there could be a cute lil' drama in Political thread!

Assuming if you hadn't voted Jill Stein you would've voted for Kamala. Voting third party/not voting at all are not the "power moves" people think they are. Regardless of how you feel about it, it was always going to be Trump or Kamala, so picking one was the logical decision. Out of curiosity, whose to say a third party vote doesnt hurt Trump? Maybe Trump lost some votes to Jill Stein Edited November 12 by BlondGuts

Maybe Trump lost some votes to Jill Stein Because he clearly didn't need them. He destroyed Kamala. She had the worst performance of a Democrat nominee since 1988! 14 years before I was born. 1

PoisonPill Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Now that the country has spoken and he will be president again, I will oppose his administration's policies that are harmful/bad and support any policies that are good. We will have to see how it plays out.
CroNich Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Not the 8 yes votes lord we really do have sin contrarians on this site don't we?
