That said I want to hear whatever she sent her for Femme Fatale bc she said she wrote a ballad for her and maybe (and just maybe) it was actually decent Do you remember the Cologne song? She didn't have a single serious bone in her lmao Perfume is fine. It's like a camp ballad
Iminmysluttyera Posted November 10 Posted November 10 It's surprisingly well remembered and liked amongst one of her key demographics (not the gays lol). Its cute but some of those lyrics are cringe And it has that awful video. Also, why wasn't this a collab with Sia? The song is about 2 women, her vocals were already recorded, she was having hits left and right at this time, and Sia would have likely preferred someone else representing her in the video instead of being in it herself completely eliminating any scheduling conflicts. So like…why didn't they do that?? Changed up some of the lyrics, made it a collab, gave it a better video and a one day radio deal and it would have been a solid B release, instead of the C - we got.

It's like a camp ballad It's the fact that Adam actually wanted Britney to record it what concerns me the most, both were having a dummy off Ngl even tho I don't like perfume, sometimes when I'm drunk and sad it sort of hits, but the rest of the time is just a flimsy ballad with a disgraceful censored music video that ended up looking like a fan edit of a hipster movie premiered in sundance Edited November 10 by WaterDiamonds
TheseThingsHappen Posted November 10 Posted November 10 It's far from her best, but it's a cute song. She sounds great on it.
Slap Posted November 10 Posted November 10 It has the makings of a really good song but the lyrics are janky and at times really weird. It was clearly an attempt to promote her perfume brands and get a Sia ballad out there so people would take her more seriously, it's just the wrong way to go about that because it wasn't genuine and it didn't feel right. When you do an earnest ballad you don't want to be conjuring up images of a dog marking its territory on a street pole. You also should probably want to not overdo it on the background vocals from Sia. I think the song could've been a hit if they're just cleaned up these aspects and honestly changed the lyrics entirely.
Solar Posted November 10 Posted November 10 Swimming In The Stars clears as the better downtempo Britney song (from the last 10-ish years). Perfume has something to it's value but lacks emotion a good mixing. 1
Movimento Perpétuo Posted November 11 Posted November 11 It's a cute song but not good enough to be a single lol Why is this in the "Celebria" section tho?
modeblock Posted November 11 Posted November 11 (edited) cute lil' sing with strained vocals. there's a really good song in there somewhere, but her vocals and sia's poor writing really hold it back. the melodies and production are good tho for THEE britney spears, it just doesn't cut it Edited November 11 by modeblock
Superbitch Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Lol this one of my guilty pleasures from Britney. Or I wouldn't call it guilty pleasure cuz I legit like it i think that even tho it's corny, I can't help but love that is one of the few we actually can tell is her voice from that album and I have always appreciated that. I like this version even more tbh
BraveNewSeth Posted November 11 Posted November 11 It's permanently stained by being on BJ even tho it's one of the few songs that Britney is singing all of. I feel like if the director's cut was released it would be more fondly remembered, but instead we got a boring music video, basic production, cheesy lyrics, Britney's vocals are… nice I guess. The single cover is gorgeous so there's that at least.
Polgg48 Posted November 11 Posted November 11 one of those 'right moment right time once in a while' track that gives me good mood and hymn along chorus. but not today
Mewtroyshka Posted November 11 Posted November 11 I love it, dreaming mix is better than the original by a long shot
faye Posted November 11 Posted November 11 It is brilliant. You have no idea how brilliant it is. 1 1
Soda Pop Queen Posted November 11 Posted November 11 It's not her greatest ballad but it's a cute little joint on a Tuesday. but why is this in 'Celebria' tho? 1
Black Sunflower Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Awful song but I've kind of disowned that entire album
