Billie, Beyonce and Charli...in that order.

I heard some people say because Dolly and all the artists on CC are on there they would want to award these great artists...that has not been the case in the past but ok.

Billie achieved every legit and superficial metric (bar a #1 album). She's a grammy darling and her new album is a great move forward. She campaigns.

Beyonce could get it do to past snubs but the biggest impact  (Shaboozy) for this era is going to be someone who might split votes with her in a few other categories. If she gets it, it will seem as though Jay z complaining about it is the reason or they are just giving it to her for being overdue which wouldn't be the best look...but I can see it after the election debacle.

Charli is a dark horse but it's not a Lorde/Lana situation where she's barely nominated. Charli has PLENTY of nominations and it's just as easy to give her the dance category than the big AOTY for now.

Because of this, she won't take many votes away from Beyonce or Billie. Taylor, Sabrina (more competitive in the pop categories), Chappell are not going to take enough votes away from Billie to help out Beyonce or in general. I think Taylor isgoing to overperform in the collab categories, Sabrina is going to overperform in pop solo and song categories and Chappell will get snubbed.

Beyonce has cross genre appeal from hip hop and r&b but not so much from country. Only thing is Andre 3000 could take some hip hop votes.

Billie has cross genre support from rock/alternative and other genres to include americana/jazz and others that like her delivery of her songs.

As much as there are plenty of pop albums none of them are real threats which could work for Billie and Beyonce against Jacob and it's really a matter of if hip hop will support Andre 3000 enough.

It seems like Billie, Beyonce and a dark horse nom could be a tossup as it can go so many ways.

My gut tells me it's between Billie and Beyonce and I can see them awarding Beyonce country and Americana but not AOTY and I don't think Billie is going to get those SOTY/ROTy/pop categories as easy but could snag AOTY.

It'll be interesting one way or another.

I'm rooting for BRAT and hope it pulls off a surprise win here. Another Billie or Taylor win would be boring as hell and tbh extreme overkill. TTPD especially is not AOTY if we are going by quality. Taylor doesn't need or deserve another AOTY trophy for that album. Sabrina and Chappell's reward is the nomination, don't expect a win for either of them. Beyoncé isn't winning either. She got a ton of nominations before and was still snubbed in AOTY. Don't see that changing now but willing to be pleasantly surprised. Although it would be annoying if CC won AOTY but not Lemonade or Renaissance.

BRAT may have a chance due to pop albums splitting votes and there is no actual frontrunner with a strong narrative this year. BRAT did very well in the genre categories indicating support. I think Charli has a real shot. However I have no faith in the GRAMMYs to do something that bold and cool though.

how does Jacob Collier get AOTY nominations when his albums don't even chart on Billboard 200, and he has less than 2 million listeners on Spotify?

Billie.

Love Beyonce, but I don't want CC to be remembered as her album of the year.

Because neither of those things has any relevance to this award. :rip:

BRAT but i think Billie is winning. the only surprise upset i can see for her is Chappell or they might give it to Bey but that would be so disappointing for her to win with such an underwhelming album that even her stans don't like :rip:

The academy giving it to Brat after snubbing Renaissance would be.... a choice. But it is Trump's America so who knows.

Beyonce's going to win because this is the first year she's considered an underdog  :dies:

Billie for me. Sorry, Bey, but Billie just did THAT with her album

In terms of quality and impact is should be BRAT, but old people are never gonna vote for that. Billie is the next best choice, but Beyoncé is THE Grammy darling even though Cowboy Carter is not her best work.

Because the award is based on quality, not how many streams it gets on a single streaming platform. :rip: This isn't a streaming award, FFS. How is that difficult to understand? :toofunny3:

Brat, it is Charli'a time and her cultural impact and all, brat is album of the year. She deserves it finally and for once.

I think it is obviously Billie but they could be shocking and have Brat win. She may sweep actually 🤷🏻‍♂️

Billie and then Sabrina second, because she was honestly everywhere and we haven't witnessed a full on breakthrough in a long time.

Billie, Charli and Chappell. I don't mind any of them getting it.

Some stats:

  • There is a 1 in 8 chance of a Black woman winning AOTY this year
  • There is a 5 in 8 chance of a White (4) or non-Black winning (1) woman AOTY this year

If a white woman wins AOTY this year, then that means white women would have won the award as many times in the FIVE YEARS of this decade alone than Black women have in THE ENTIRE 67 YEAR GRAMMYS HISTORY.

Obviously this should not be the reason alone that a Black woman should win, however, it's getting harder and harder for people to say with any certainty that there is no possible or likely racial bias when it comes to this award, when saying this suggests that in all of Grammys history, not more than 3 Black women have ever deserved AOTY.

I would be happy for BRAT to win, as it's something left-field and certainly is one of the "albums of the year" when you think about art and culture merging. I'd clearly be happy to see COWBOY CARTER win, as it is in my opinion the most fully realized, risk-taking, musically impressive album of the year. I'd be happy for Andre 3000 to win, in a sort of "we are the Grammys and it's not ALWAYS about sales" sort of Jon Baptiste way. I'd also be happy for Chappell to cap off her year of domination with an AOTY, given how integral to the year of pop music she has been.

This year is the rare instance where my personal AOTY is actually nominated, Brat, so I'm of course rooting for it. It has a decent chance imo, but still feels like a longshot. As long as she wins something which seems likely I'll be happy.

Billie's album is my next favorite on the list, and I think still the frontrunner & an obvious pick. Not mad at it winning. Beyonce is my next-favorite album, and while I'd be happy if she finally won, I'd probably be annoyed that she didn't get it for the run 4 to Renaissance since those albums are all way better than CC, especially Ren.

Sabrina's album was cute, but was both commercially massive, has a successful tour tied to it, and was pretty acclaimed. Not mad at that winning, but personally I find the album a mixed bag. I think Chappell's album is a mixed bag too (I like Good Luck, Babe better than anything on Midwest), but I don't think I'd be too mad at her winning given how massive a year she had.

I actively disliked both Jacob & Taylor's albums, but I'd probably be more annoyed with Taylor winning (sorry Swifties) with such a mediocre album. Midnights winning was already one mediocre win, though the competition that year was weak. Jacob winning would at least be funny, even if Vol 4 is even worse than his previously nominated album :rip:

And then Andre's album I still haven't listened to yet, but the fact that it got in at all is impressive and wild to me. I thought that would have been an easy Vampire Weekend spot. I'll listen sometime before the end of the year, but Andre winning in an MPG heavy list of nominations would be so funny.
