In your opinion, who is the deserving winner?

I say this as a longtime Swiftie - Taylor should not win another AOTY unless it's folklore/evermore level or better. MIDnights was not deserved.

I want Beyoncé to finally win but then I feel like she would be winning just because she pleased the Grammy committee because they love the country genre so much. I would love for her to win AOTY for her next album to cap out all the acts. I would also love for her to win one for an R&B album. But if it goes to her I'll still be very happy tho.

 

If not her, I want Chappell to win. I know it's her first album and it's very rare to win one for a debut but it's soooooo good.

Beyoncé… we know her relationship with AOTY.

 

Chappell and Sabrina might split votes causing both to lose their chance (similar narrative of exploding into the mainstream the past year after a decade making music, mostly pop with some cross genre influences and witty but clever songwriting as main selling point).

 

Andre and Jacob won't have cross genre support to win, Charli too but to a lesser extent, so she might be a wildcard to win if everyone else split votes between one another.

 

Taylor literally won this year and she has an extensive history of not winning anything right after winning AOTY, TTPD wasn't a folklore type of universal acclaim to enter the conversation to win twice in a row, even with her stardom.

 

So… yeah, wouldn't ENTIRELY shut down Bey/Charli/Chappell/Sabrina but all points to Billie.

What's crazy is that I think one of the only things that could stop Bey from winning is if these (obviously fake) rumors of her being involved in Diddy's mess get any bigger. That conspiracy theory has actually gotten pretty mainstream

COWBOY CARTER deserves it the most followed by THE TORTURED POETS DEPARTMENT. Short n' Sweet would not be the worst choice. I have to listen to New Blue Sun by André 3000 and Djesse Vol. 4 by Jacob Collier so I know where those stand.

 

I just know the Recording Academy is going to give it to Charli XCX's BRAT. They love rewarding success and this year was her breakout smash year with the first cultural influence beyond the gays. I mean, I personally think it's one of her weakest album but we'll see.
