So, gays? What are we doing now?

mobilize, rally, radicalize, be part of unions, groups and communities that fight for the world you want to live in, demand more responsibilities and actions from the political party you belong or feel more aligned with, and be more critical of their work when necessary. and of course, be there for each other.

You said we will be okay and my response is we wont. Unless you dont consider trans people part of the LGBT community.

The OP was asking about gay people specifically, so by "we" I meant gay people. If the question had been about the LGBT community as a whole I would've answered differently.

Isn't it the different pronouns that make them lose their minds and the young people wanting to change their gender? That is what all the outrage has been about not sexy gay guys.

Honestly this is true.

As a lesbian I have been targeted and harassed two different times just this month. Must be nice that you haven't

You were harassed for being gay in November, 2024 because of Trump's 2016-2020 presidency?

I hope Blaire White wants to have a biological baby and gets denied entry at every hospital just for being trans, oh and that they force her to use the men's restrooms... I hope the people who voted Trump get the karma they deserve and suffer the most. I pray that my loved ones and friends are okay and continue to be okay during these 4 years.

Because of his supporters yes. Its been almost a decade of his reign of terror already. Stop acting like that all just vanished when Biden won

So the only way you've been impacted by Trump as a lesbian is that you've been harassed, starting in 2016?

What if I told you that homophobia existed long before then? What

leader Is to blame for me being assaulted for being gay in 2009?

The fact that it didn't all vanish when Biden won is a great rebuttal for me. Thanks for that.

I know it seems like I'm defending Trump, but I'm really not. The point that I'm trying to make/have refuted is that I don't think a Trump presidency warrants the dramatics of this thread topic. I'm open to being proven wrong, but describing homophobia that has been here this whole time is not it.

Y'all so dramatic…I'm liberal but it's almost like you want to be oppressed despite Trump repeatedly demonstrating support of gay people

I've been told that it's only gay marriage in the U.S that could really be a threat. Not too bad right?

Wrong. Anti-sodomy laws are definitely back on the menu. Conservatives have already been salivating over revoking Lawrence v. Texas ever since Dobbs

I never said homophobia didn't exist before? I'm saying Trump emboldened the more quiet homophobes. Project 2025 is a thing that exists because of and for Trump and it includes the entire LGBT community whether you believe trumps lies about his involvement in it or not

This thread is so interesting to read as someone who lives in a country where homosexuality is criminalized. :suburban:

Chile is somehow conservative yet unlikely to do a U-turn once things start to get normalized. Gay people are more normalized now than ever in society and even the most likely president for next year's election (which will be from the Right Wing for sure, sadly) has done a U-turn in key issues like Gay Marriage and Adoption.
