Nothing about Sabrina's, Charli's, or Chappell's music is generic (regardless of what many gays on this site would say). They all tell interesting and unique perspectives on their experiences as women in this world. But referring to the Op, just because it is not necessarily what certain gays want does not at all mean it is bad. 1

Romova99 Posted October 31 Posted October 31 No, when songs like Dance Monkey, Despacito and films from superheroes were popular af we were at our lowest point in terms of taste. 1

ChooseyLover Posted October 31 Posted October 31 Imagine being in this thread and defending the absolutely miserable pop scene of 2024. Couldn't be me.
TipToe Posted October 31 Posted October 31 What i take of this is that the "geepee" is much less welcoming of different things, even tho once in a while an anomaly happens. The average joe taste was always influenced by external forces, people mindlessly follow trends and what not but things are becoming simply too monotone and artistically impoverished like you say; it's always the same people, the same sounds, taking over multiple places on charts etc. It's the tik tok algorithm curbing peoples patience and turning music into a less important experience that's just accompanying noise to images or an accessory to consolidated fan bases activity imo.

Basic but very palatable products are always going to be consumed en masse Big radio stations are not going to play the more experimental stuff unless it already gained traction elsewhere. Pleasant and familiar with big names attached is the reason why DWAS got so big so quick with the gp. Not talking down on these products…just the way the gp works But isn't the main criticism of Taylor on here that TTPD lacks bops, radio jams, and danceable pop music? It seems people's criticisms of Taylor on here switch like the wind. First, it's that she's a safe pop star or the McDonald's of pop who makes simple music for the lowest common denominator. Then, it's that she's too much of a wordy songwriter and doesn't make as many catchy bops for the masses like other MPG's. But these 2 statements are contradictions. I'm not even a Swiftie but it's funny to see people create these types of arguments against her. Edited October 31 by Storm653

Malkuth Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Most people aren't taking part I pop culture anymore. People just watch old movies, old TV shows and listen to old music.
Kristie Kuwa Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago If the GP had ANY taste, we'd have these acts be way more successful: - FLO (they are constantly releasing BOPS and have the vocal chops) - Doechii (EASILY the most interesting rapper out there currently) - Charli XCX would smash with her more interesting songs and not the most basic Pop song ever aka Apple - Jade would smash harder And these are just some examples from the top of my head. The white singer-songwriter-shtick is a HORRIBLY boring era to live in. We need to rewards dramatics, spectacle and actual TALENT way more
