Become some overtly sexual Jezebel spirit because they want to tarnish the image of gay men to the public for clout and attention (Troye, lil nas, Sam smith, soon to be David Archuleta) 2. Marries some creepy old man (Colton underwood, Tom daley) 3. Marries his identical twin (everyone else) Please rise above the horrible canon event. You can do it Hey let David Archie live his best life! He's 30 but living like an 18 year old teen for the first time, this is typical with gays who grew up in an extremely religious family. He will settle down in a few years, but straights got to do this in their teens/20s, let gays experience their "wild/party" time even if it's not until their 30s. 13 2

They will move on and bully the next 20 yo male popstar to get out of the closet. 6 1
UnanimousBB16 Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I don't know who was forcing him to talk about this. I don't recall anyone mentioning it again until the lyrics for his new song, and then this clip. But people have done way too much about his sexuality, or supposed sexuality. No need to pester about it, even if it is or isn't obvious. 1
Spicy Pisces Posted October 29 Posted October 29 But the timing though. I Wonder.mp3 if this has to do with the sudden stroke of inspiration that delayed his album.
NEX Posted October 29 Posted October 29 This was clearly so difficult for him, it's like he was battling his inner voice telling him not to say anything. You all bullies. Can't believe we're still pressuring celebrities to "come out" just because they display this or that trait. 5
Ciel Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I hope he's okay. But it'll really be something if he does indeed come out & gays drop him like they did with Colton and then move onto another guy to harass about his sexuality. Like, it's truly a cycle 1

Like, it's truly a cycle There still exists this self-cannibalizing tendency within the gay community, but I kind of think (hope) this is changing as times evolve. Cooper Koch is a good example, he's emerged unapologetically gay and is objectively winning because he's hot and a good actor. If a gay tried to come for him or act like he's old news because there isn't a mystery surrounding his sexuality, they would look like a loser. 2

I don't think so, Shawn is from our generation, so I don't see +30 years old gays trying to out the next teenager star just because (and if they do they're just outright creepy) Edited October 29 by BrokenMachine

Cheers Posted October 29 Posted October 29 Poor Shawn tho. I can bet his DMs are filled with those perverted old men now and a bunch of thirst content creators trying to get clout igufjkdffa
hungrymuffin Posted October 29 Posted October 29 as much as we want to joke about this, it is important to remember being part of the marginalised community is already hard enough and for him to be made fun of by the same group of people constantly, it just takes a toll on him. Be kind people 1
yonsé Posted October 29 Posted October 29 1 minute ago, Fleahive said: You? hmmm calling gay men who mention sex in their music "sexual jezebel spirits tarnishing the image of the gay man" is kiiiinda crazy. because 1. why are you policing what the "public image of the gay man" is? and 2. why does straight approval matter to you that much that seeing gay men be comfortable and proud in their skin is gross to you? thats classic projecting sweetie 7

It's giving Liam Payne where people bully these people endlessly until something bad happens. Then 1 minute later they are posting about the importance of mental health / wellness. 1 1
ATRL Moderator Juánny Posted October 29 ATRL Moderator Posted October 29 I’m glad he’s discovering himself and finding his way. It’s really scary to come to terms with yourself and this step he’s taking is a very huge one when you come out at that age and I don’t think some people really understand the weight of that pressure. I had difficulty myself and I didn’t have millions of people watching me and taunting me the entire time which really adds to the guilt and feelings of disingenuousness of coming out so late. That terrible feeling you’ve lied to people your whole life can be really, really hard to overcome. LGBTQ+ community has so many issues and full of depraved or traumatized individuals who haven’t done the self work so live off pulling others down to their level especially under the guise of anonymity, how ‘brave’. So many of us have no idea or conception of how to support our own with the best sensitivity, and is so obvious reading the replies on here in the past and even now. Good for him for how level headed he’s turned out to be, I’m honestly so impressed and glad. It doesn’t always go that way for celebrities who grow up in the spotlight. 9
Ramooon Posted October 29 Posted October 29 There is nothing to figure out. Its not rocket science. U just dont admit it to yourself or not. 2
Mandalay Posted October 29 Posted October 29 He looks so vulnerable in that video. I feel you Shawn. Homophobia is, sadly, a thing that will persist.
Quiqui4eva Posted October 29 Posted October 29 I kinda hate that the gays bullying and harassing him over the years probably feel validated now.
Frozen99 Posted October 29 Posted October 29 i'm glad he finally got the guts to talk about it, you can see from the video he was struggling with holding it in (no pun intended). whenever he was talking about reading all these self-help books, it was obvious he was suppressing himself, hopefully he opens to new explorations and will feel better mentally

Delayed adolescence is extremely common in gay men. It is the result of a world that forces us to hide ourselves and I'm certainly not going to shame anyone for exploring their sexuality in the puritanical state of America. People can be annoying for so many reasons that aren't related to shared trauma. Find one of those to dislike someone! That being said, I never followed him but the calls for him to "come out" were absolutely uncalled for and I can only imagine the number it's done to his mental health. Especially as people started this all when he was a child?? Maybe we do don't deserve the internet. Edited October 29 by Reflektor 5
