They were already calling her "the new Madonna" in the press release for Just Dance, Interscope orchestrated everything from the beginning. Nothing was ever organic about the "Gaga phenomenon", her label/the media created it and forced it down people's throats until everyone was convinced she was a genius for no reason. And of course her fanbase drank that kool aid immediately and we all know what became of it

Thats literally popstardom 101...they all have PR teams working with media conglomerates to convince the public to drink their koolaid. I get that this is supposed to be one big circlejerk but acting as if this only applies to gaga is beyond lame.

I do agree with your point, but one thing that really bothered me was the false claim that she made dance-pop popular again, because in the years leading up to her it was already making a comeback thanks to Rihanna, Britney, Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Chris Brown, Ne-Yo, etc. due to songs like Hung Up, SOS, Maneater, Forever, Closer, Disturbia, Womanizer, Hot N Cold, etc.

Taylor is only "manufactured" by herself. Most of her debut songs were written even before signing with BMR. She has been the leader of her career even when her label try to avoid her to do things like 1989. And her father has little power on her career, there's a ******* letter leaked of him complaining of how little he had to say
