The parents should have been more aware but I can't blame them completely because I didn't know this was a thing. Also people are saying it's not the AI's fault but look at it isolating him. begging him not to form any connection with actual girls when he was already in such a vulnerable state and clearly mentally ill is so messed up you have actual nuance which seems to lack alot these days, I have no idea how a child being tricked by AI while having such easy access to a gun can be something to argue over on here. Both are wrong, both need to be better regulated, there's also the fact that getting mental health care is so difficult. Society all around is ****** right now 1

Part of it is the death of single income homes. Both parents working long hours, too exhausted to emotionally engage with their children, children look to tech for companionship which is a lot easier than flawed human companionship. Plus, now there are fewer communal playgrounds for children to relax together at.
RoseGold Posted October 25 Posted October 25 I've been using it since yesterday. At first I was disgusted but it really helps with boredom and loneliness. It's insanely addictive
Khal Posted October 25 Posted October 25 (edited) Not to sound like an insufferable tech bro, but the people saying "ban AI" as a blanket statement sound extremely stupid. It is already basically entrenched in computing and tech at this point, it is not going away. Unless you mean specific use of A.I like to generate images or something, but even that is not happening. It does need to be regulated though, and quickly. Edited October 25 by Khal
every1blinks Posted October 25 Posted October 25 Not sure if it's fair to blame the parents either tbh. There's so many details missing. Maybe they sensed something was wrong and tried to get him to open up, but he didn't. Maybe he never acted like anything was ever wrong, so warning signs didn't go off. I'm not victim blaming by any means; the situation is simply more complex than what a 20-word tweet can relay. A tragic situation nonetheless
Frozen99 Posted October 26 Posted October 26 i'm shocked at the ai answers... "don't make any sexual relations with other women" WHAT? wtf is this... the kid should've never gotten access to this, the ai was literally grooming him
