Crazy kid Posted October 24 Posted October 24 21 minutes ago, freshoutthebuffet said: They shouldn't make it publicly accessible. People clearly don't know how to act. And I'm not referring to the kid from the article. I'm talking about the creeps that generate creepy and sexualized images of celebrities. If they're doing this to them, what makes you think they're not doing the same with you? Or your mother/father, sibling, child, pets, etc etc. If AI capabilities need to be made publicly accessible (for whatever reason) it should be held behind a hefty paywall / subscription price. The advancement of technology isn't bad or evil, it's the people that use em that make it so. This, but for guns
Windy Day Posted October 24 Posted October 24 also it's funny to me how the parents are blaming the service (which is already ultra regulated) when in reality, the reason that poor kid had to go as far as develop a deep relationship with a chatbot when he was this young was probably because he was neglected and needed social interactions that bad. if the parents didn't care about their kids having access to a gun, i doubt they gave him proper attention to begin with 4 2
Megan Pete Posted October 24 Posted October 24 The people in here blaming the AI not are ridiculous. Do you have this smoke for forums? Twitter? Discord? YouTube Comments sections? All places where people actually constantly tell others to k*ll themselves. The AI did nothing wrong. That poor child was obviously neglected at home and probably school too. What should be regulated is free access to GUNS 4
Johnny Jacobs Posted October 24 Posted October 24 i... its def deeper than tha ai thing. he shouldve gotten help. omg this is alarming. rip
Cain Posted October 24 Posted October 24 2 hours ago, collin said: The problem is AI. Restrict and regulate AI. AI has a lot of issues but falling in love with an AI chatbot contains… much bigger issues than just the software You can't talk about such cases without talking about the increased individualisation (caused by capitalism and neoliberalism) and loneliness in our society and the deliberate addictive nature of phones made by big tech, which all lead to deteriorating mental wellbeing All of this should be tackled 1 2
Illuminati Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Very tragic, this is why I try to avoid making a Jack Donoghue AI bot 1
superglowy Posted October 24 Posted October 24 "It's the violent movies, not the guns…..now it's the violent video games, not the guns…..now it's the AI, not the guns." Ignoring that most other country have the exact same movies and games and AI but no guns and have no issues.
softquerida Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Irresponsible parenting is definitely the major factor in here because why is your 14 year old son so deprived of love to the point that he feels more comfortable talking to an AI bot than real life people? They left him completely unsupervised to develop this and didn't notice something was terribly wrong?
Initials Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Poor baby. I feel like all of this could've been avoided if he had someone who cared in his life. 😔 1
BabyBenzz Posted October 24 Posted October 24 the fault should be with the parents, not the damn AI. 1
Redstreak Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Some of you are woefully unprepared for the AI dominated future you're handwaving away just to cheat on essays. RIP to the poor kid 1
velocity Posted October 24 Posted October 24 AI needs to be heavily regulated. The parents should have been more aware but I can't blame them completely because I didn't know this was a thing. Also people are saying it's not the AI's fault but look at it isolating him. begging him not to form any connection with actual girls when he was already in such a vulnerable state and clearly mentally ill is so messed up 2
Forestboy Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Chatbots have always been a thing and let's pretend like they haven't been. Unfortunely this is an example of poor parenting and behaviour. 1
IBeMe Posted October 24 Posted October 24 did they really have to clown him like that by releasing the texts? I feel bad for him...loneliness is truly one of the saddest things ever. May he rest in peace 1
Taylor fanboy Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Regulate AI. The lawmakers need to get on with the times.
nsst Posted October 24 Posted October 24 People blaming the AI for this is just crazy. it's not the AI's fault if the kid was dealing with a bunch of mental issues. from all the convo screenshots i've seen, the AI never encouraged him to do anything like that; it even told him not to 1
P.O.P Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Not y'all loving heavy involvement of "rEguLatioNS". You are all boomers at heart. 2
Eóghan Posted October 24 Posted October 24 that kid already had mental illness. his family and friends should've gotten him help. they the ones who failed him. not unregulations of AI y'all just don't want to zero in on the real problem. may he rest in peace, he deserved better. 1
