So a second soundtrack to a flop movie full of 100 year old jazz covers performed just as well as a main pop studio album full of the biggest heavy hitter producers and features and radio ready dance pop and trap pop singles with massive promo? Wow, it really was bad for 143.

Gaga did one appearance in a late night show for her side project and you think that's enough promo? :rip:

There's people who do BIG awards shows or performances in USA, Brazil, Australia, etc and still FLOP

Let me remind you it's jazz music, not a popular genre unlike others who release generic music for the charts. I don't understand why you are surprised a jazz album is not pulling amazing numbers.

I think Harlequin did what needed to be done :clap3:

It's proving Gaga has a great artistic vision, great LIVE vocals and she's doesn't care about the charts, a true legend and artist.

I never call myself a Gaga hater because I'm not.

Buuuuut since you brought jazz albums….

Cheek to Cheek (2014) - # 1 (+ certified Gold)

Love For Sale (2021) - #8

Harlequin (2024) - #20

Or maybe the Liddos just lack self-awareness; and it's time to stop being delulu and comparing your faves to actual female top artists like Beyonce and Taylor

Putting Beyoncé and Taylor together in 2024 is just unfair lol

It's a companion album to a movie that was supposed to be the biggest movie of the year and another blockbuster. It didn't need promotion. You'll never be able to defend it.

I mean, Gaga fans don't care about a cover album of 50+ year old songs.

Whats katy kats' excuse? they got what they wanted, no?

If you can't see the reality, and the reality is that your fave's studio album did similar to Gaga's side project full of jazz covers (it was surprise release unlike highly hyped for months album), then yeah keep saying they're in the same boat. But it's like you're slapping your own face

Unsurprising, both are relics of the early 2010s when they don't have an actual relevant star like Bruno Mars carrying them

I love them both so hate to see them flop but Harlequin was particularly grating. I listened to half of it first week but haven't been able to return to it. Awful songs.

At least 143 has solid pop songs I can bop to.

Congratulations to Lady Gottwald, a fellow Californian on your MASSIVE achievement of two weeks on the BB200.

Damn... Artpop, Joanne, Stupid Love, Joker 2, and now this? Didn't she have another movie song too that made zero noise? Poor Gaga :chick3:

Well both are companion albums—one for a movie and one for a tour. No one expect them to be smashes

:suburban:

I don't know if this is trolling or just lack of critical thinking skills that is attached to being a OGH but Harlequin is a side-project, a jazz album (as evident in it charting #1 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart), even self-financed and without any official singles and music videos and has never been treated by even Gaga's label as her official studio album so it by default wasn't expected to smash. It would've made everyone happy if it did but they didn't try to make it smash.

Meanwhile, we have a mpg releasing a brand new studio album with official singles and music videos and interviews and a tour and entirely pushed by the label that is OUT on Billboard after two weeks. One says everything about the BRAND of the artist, the other says nothing.

tbh the thread is about Billboard 200 which is an American chart so things like Australian tour announcement or Rock in Rio (Brazil) don't do anything for her performance in the US :giraffe:
