A Nightmare on Elm Street is so low

 

I'm always torn because I don't think half the list should be from the 80s or earlier, but I don't think anything from the past 5 years should be on here either.

 

Definitely needed more 2000s content though.

TCM is an absolute classic so I don't mind it being #1. For such an old movie it has one of the scariest jumpscares in a horror movie.

 

I have to check if Black Christmas is here because it's a lot better than Halloween imo. That peephole scene made me have shivers at night. I had to lower my laptop at the end because the atmosphere was so creepy

I wouldn't consider this film a horror film its sadism, yes, but horror not. Btw, don't watch it is disturbing. 
 

I would make The Exorcist #1 instead of TCSM because the horror elements are still gruesome. Truly the greatest horror film of all time.

My "asinine implication" was that much of the list reads like the editor failed to consider a decent handful of more recent films that expanded or challenged the horror genre, but go off I guess?
