Warner exec debuts misogyny, blames Gaga' interpretation of Harley for alienating men

My straight male friend that loved the first movie said what he wanted out of Joker 2 was for Joker to catch a W, not... whatever it was that ended in the final cut :rip:

Spoiler

I didn't catch the implication at all but apparently he gets gangraped near the end of the movie :deadbanana4: Spoilers for the movie started circulating just before the theatrical release and that turning off male viewers is somehow Gaga's fault?

Anyway, no doubt that execs are scrambling - this is a $150 million loss we're talking about here, it's not like an album flopping.

But the director bears ultimate responsibility here, it's never an actor's fault. Gaga followed Todd's direction.

So WB is leading the hate train?

Are gay men not men?

They need to take responsibility for themselves. The DC franchise has had like 8 bombs already, and Gaga had nothing to do with them.

To be honest, ever since they announced Lady Gaga as Harlequin I knew deep down it was a misfit. Not because Gaga wouldn't do a good job in portraying her, but only because her brand doesn't really fit that world.

It's not that a woman was cast but that Gaga was cast.

Of course comic book stans don't want to go see Gaga belt out jazz and Broadway showtunes, like be serious. :rip:

I hate to admit, but this is the truth.

I love Lady Gaga, but she does not resonate with straight males.

They thought they would get all audiences by casting

Joaquin - straight men

Lady gaga - women and gay men

"Gaga's Harley" is the Harley that was written in the script by Todd, a role that she was universally praised for despite the movie being panned.  If Todd had any balls, he'd absolve the cast, and Gaga especially, of any hate and take responsibility for this mistake.

Why would that scene turn off male viewers? Loads of women get r@ped in movies and the excuse is that it shows violence is wrong and is not meant to be titilating.

Because it's not happening to a woman

She could possibly be blamed if people thought she was terrible, which didn't happen, everyone thought she was great.

There was too much singing in the film, and even that was not Gaga's fault as:

1. Todd wrote the script, not Gaga
2. Joaquin sang a lot more than Gaga

Clearly Todd and Joaquin had way too much creative control :skull:

Last, but not least:

Quote

Forty-three percent went to Joker 2 because of Phoenix, 39% went because of Gaga, 39% also went because it was part of a franchise they love, 23% said it looked fun and entertaining, while only 7% –not that many– heard it was "good."

Gaga is the only saving grace of this tragedy, it would be a lot worse if it was just Joaquin singing all movie :rip:  - 39% worse to be exact.

Gaga actually received high praise from critics, even though they hated pretty much everything else about the film.

It's not like Gaga's casting implies jazz showtunes? That decision is solely on the director, not the actors.

Gaga's take?

So it's Gaga's fault and not Todd's who wrote the script, directed AND edited the movie? Interesting :thing:
