Warner exec debuts misogyny, blames Gaga' interpretation of Harley for alienating men

However, Goldstein briefly shared his thoughts on the disastrous debut of Joker: Folie à Deux while speaking with the Wall Street Journal. Admitting that the film had failed to live up to the box office potential the studio had hoped for – something that is very hard to try and deny – Goldstein noted that he feels the "core male audience" that made the first movie a huge success, struggled to connect with Gaga's take on the ever-popular Harley Quinn. He added, somewhat unnecessarily: "The movie didn't land with audiences the way we wanted it to."

Did she also cause other DC movies to flop as well? Someone quickly check if she had a cameo in The Flash or the second Aquaman movie

I refuse to believe they didn't understand Lady Gaga's audience vs. The Joker's. It's not even the cast, it's that they made it a musical. Sorry, but nobody who liked the first wanted to see that lmfao

I think they tired to pull a difference audience than the toxic men that loved the first film, but it backfired, so nobody likes it now

Not Gaga "alienating" the straights when a huge chunk of her scenes were cut.

The actors and the acting are actually perfect in the movie. The cinematography and the picture is also brilliant. It's just the lack of Joker story and the musical part upsetting people.

not him actually saying Gaga is box office poison :deadbanana4: @bjorn

He's saying she's box office poison in male-targeted films. ASIB and House of Gucci did well with a primarily female (and gay) audience.

I mean there is something to be said about Gaga really just playing a random woman with little connection to the character that was established as Harley in the comics. That is however something that is not unique to JFad; first Joker did the same AND by the looks of it Todd Philips and Joaquin Phoenix were the biggest driving forces creatively. The poor choices that the movie made are almost fully on them

OBVIOUSLY they had to chop a lot of her bits because of how bad it was and her performance ended up ruining this WIDELY PANNED & UNIVERSALLY LOATHED movie.

Ppl went to see Joker just to see Gaga (39%), almost as much as Joaquin (40%). Be serious, Warner.

The nice thing about cutting her out of the film is that now trying to blame her for this colossal flop (creatively and commercially) is nonsensical and she's basically immune.
