Rumor: Gaga "in shock" at J:FAD flopping; Tarantino to save her?

I don't really get this argument. She's one of the biggest stars in the world and any time she dedicates to acting comes at the cost of much better paying music or side-business gigs. The Chromatica Ball dates grossed over 100m, artists usually take ~30% of a tour's gross, she made $30m+(before merch, drink sales, or the catalog boost she got from it) for a tour which started rehearsals in July and wrapped in September. She got $12m for this movie and it took months from her life and forced her to physically transform her entire body in a way she doesn't really bother with for music projects.

I think people are misunderstanding her. Like all of our favs, she's fame-hungry and she's trying to not waste her time/15 minutes and is going after splashy projects. Movies are inherently more risky for her because no matter how good she is, the movie can still critically/commercially bomb, with her music she's always been able to force hits even at her lowest lows since her talent and celebrity status are the only factors at play. Lady Gaga is easily a much bigger star than 80%+ of a-list actors(so are all a-list recording artists), it makes sense that she's getting parts to match.

Why would she do that for a movie that doesn't exist tho?

With joker I kinda get it. She knew the team and kinda knew the tone

Now wanting to act in a movie with no scrip or plot or anything makes no sense. She wants her name to be asociated with Tarantino that's it

I feel bad for Gaga, she is a good actress and I just know she was really excited for this project and it sucks that the director didn't produced a well written story or didn't take the time to make sure the vision translates to the public.

At the end of the day, it's not the actors fault. Hopefully she focuses on her new era  Talent always win.

So far it seems like she's only jumped at a role because of the director or character's name recognition, not because she read the scripts and loved them. If she wants to have a long career in the film industry, she needs to start working with smaller talented writers and directors. All the main film girls (Emma Stone, Cate Blanchett, Saoirse Ronan etc...) made their names by delivering great performances in original films, which had no big IP or directors to back them up

If she wants a career in movies, she needs to go indie and find interesting directors, not hacks like Todd Philips.

Cher was working with Robert Altman, Mike Nichols and Peter Bogdanovich right out of the gate.

I think she's in it more for the high profile acclaims than the actual craft. So I highly doubt she would go indie.

Like, all her projects so far just keep needing an Oscar buzz, and that's exhausting.

I think there's been kind of obvious reasons for all of her major acting roles so far.

American Horror Story was a campy gay edgy TV show, it was perfect for her to express the hot-topic side of herself, and Ryan Murphy by that point already had Scream Queens under his belt which showcased several sub-par actors in a good light. It was a safe bet to dip her toes in without looking bad or alienating her fans.

ASIB being previously made by two other multi-talented gay icons made too much sense, especially since they wanted to go for a less glamorous version of the story this time and she was cooking up Joanne when she signed on. One of the top 10 pop stars currently alive playing a pop star was again a safe bet.

House of Gucci had a star studded cast that would put her alongside some of the most acclaimed actors in the world and allowed her to do that while playing a kooky Italian lady and having the fashion angle to it allowed her to once again bring a part of Lady Gaga to it and get her fans engaged on some level.

FAD had a producer on A Star Is Born at the helm and I don't want to go into spoilers but I think that between the themes of how society treats famous/infamous people and taking stans for lovers that the character of Lee was deeply personal to her in a way that not even the quasi-self-insert of Ally was.

I don't believe this report at all but Tarantino is known for being eccentric and unoriginal but extremely talented, just like her. They're both extremely campy and love to be low brow despite how obviously well studied they are at their crafts. They both have very old/aging fanbases. It would make a lot of sense if this wasn't just pulled out of some gossip columnist's ass when they saw that Gaga is teasing LG7 at the same time as FAD bombing.

And yet Kesha's career is way more alive and gaining momentum than your pfp's career, dear.

This is not true. Both her last álbum and single BOMBED. No need to make things up while trying to defend your fave.

ot: Gaga please stop

I don't get her need to keep acting. She herself said music means more to her than anything and this hopefully will be an opportunity for her to focusing on what she's best at. She's done well in some of her roles but she'd better off waiting for a film she's really passionate about to come along and just do acting once in a blue moon. She has her Oscar, she doesn't need more, give us dark bops!

He writes female characters terribly.

she needs to work with a FEMALE director. Her working with the director of the substance could be epic

This doesn't really make sense at all but we'll see ig. Also DailyMail is known to just say stupid **** 24/7 about every celebrity so this is likely just fake.

Do people think actors who don't write, direct, or produce the movies they star in are somehow devastated when the movies they're in flop? :rip: They're not paid to make the movie a success, they're paid to play a character. They do that and then they move on. Why do people think actors become, like, attached to movies in a personal way? It's a job for them.

The number of Katy cats (hiding behind other artists, I might add) pretending they knew JFAD was going to bomb.

Everyone thought this was going to be huge until the Venice film fest. You don't need to pretend, we all know y'all aren't that smart!

This is on Phillips and WB. WB has a history of butchering films in post production and Todd basically committed fraud with the amount of false advertising around this movie. Pretty much all the scenes they used to create buzz weren't even in the film

The movie has only been out for barely 4 days.

This extreme meltdown over it is absurd.

Whatever happened to movies having time to grow and build their audience?

Let's not forget that Titanic was not doing well initially. And it went on to gross over a billion.

Do you really think a movie with a negative reception like this in the age of social media will somehow blossom into a success? Esp given that it's an established brand? I'm all for letting movies grow but let's be realistic now lmao

Not gonna lie, I hate when a popgirl is under this kind of attacks. Katy, J.Lo amd now Gaga, 2024 has been a year for the books.

Something just feels really off about all this. Like it was a coordinated effort to destroy her. Just like with JLo too.

Now Katy destroyed herself.

Uhm, I'm a huge Gaga fan but I'm not this delusional. We should let it go.

.. alright girl 😭 was DWAS smashing part of the coordinated effort? Or is it just that some projects are liked and others aren't because they aren't good/appeal to the gp?

She's worked with Robert Rodriguez. It wouldn't surprise me if she was able to land a part in a Tarantino film.
