supertiffany Posted October 7 Posted October 7 her best album with smashing hits critically acclaimed grammy darling is she the sure winner?
dussel_06 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Yes. But I'm afraid she's gonna be Thank You, Next'd. Because there's also a lot of standouts this year especially in pop categories which can split the vote. Grammys should do the Preferential Voting process like the oscars if they have 8-10 nominees. 1
Dula Peep Posted October 7 Posted October 7 BRAT deserves but sure .... im sure BRAT will win British AOTY at the BRITS anyways 2 3
RoseBud Posted October 7 Posted October 7 Of course - easy peezy. Bet the house on it and make a bundle. 1

Klein Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I really can't imagine anyone else having a shot against her tbh. She's got everything the Grammy's want on her side: acclaim, success and a short list of collaborators. She's also a Grammy darling which helps. The only dark horse of the category would have been Chappell, but I'm not so sure after the comments about hoping she won't get a Grammy. 4
Dash_inthedark Posted October 7 Posted October 7 It's AOTY. But could be another situation where votes get split up between 2 favs like it did before and goes to someone else. My prediction is it's gonna be between Billie and Beyonce.

My jaw will drop if Chappell ends up getting the award, I just can't imagine it
Kayseri Mantisi Posted October 7 Posted October 7 yes + she'll also get one for Guess feat. Billie Eilish & FINNEAS
bad guy Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) She didn't submit Godflower for anything so if she loses AOTY it's simple karma. I could see BRAT taking it too if we're going on impact. But she should have either ROTY or SOTY on lock hopefully. Edited October 7 by bad guy 1
Alldeezy Posted October 7 Posted October 7 I hope so that Album was actually really good coming from a MPG

I'd say this is a different scenario compared to "thank u, next". Ariana's album resonated a lot with younger demographics, but I'm not surprised the prominent trap pop sound and lyrics didn't click with the older voting body who are typically narrow-minded to new trends. Yes, Billie's debut shared similar qualities, but it felt more experimental and artistic rather than... for the lack of a better term, trend-chasing It also didn't help that "7 rings" was the biggest hit off the album (+ the song she submitted across the board). It was a very divisive song and plagued with plagiarism controversies and blackfishing/cultural appropriation discourse. Meanwhile, Billie's main submission to represent "HIT ME HARD AND SOFT" is the universally beloved "BIRDS OF A FEATHER". The album also hits that sweet spot between accessible to those preferring more conventional sounds ("SKINNY", "THE GREATEST") and bringing something new and bold to the table ("LUNCH", "CHIHIRO"), with tracks like "WILDFLOWER" and "L'AMOUR DE MA VIE" embracing both sides.
