Britney's music career lasted for about five years before she became more famous for her personal life (not really her fault). Because of her fanbase, she's had a couple of hits since then but she was never able to capture the zeitgeist or peak again after that. Gaga has had multiple peaks and now has 100,000,000 listeners on Spotify 16 years into her career. It's no competition.

Lmao at Applause, who cares? I could ask 50 random people on the street what that song is and they'd have no idea.

Lol, not when all the stadiums of The Eras Tour went crazy when Applause came on:rip:

Britney set first week sales records in 2011. Gaga is bombing with her latest release and has one of the biggest film disappointments of the year.

An artist peaks once. Learn how a metaphor works.

And Gaga has 100M listeners because she's playlisted heavily, not because she's smashing currently. Y'all are serving Christina Aguilera fans the way you're clinging to that Bruno collab :ahh:

Music wise it's obviously Britney, the Gaga fad lasted like 3 years and she doesn't have a "Blackout" either. But career wise probably Gaga, she was smart and moved to film where she will continue to thrive IMO

Film is not doing well for Gaga.

A Star Is Born - $436.2M ($36M budget, a smash)

House of Gucci - $153.2M ($75M budget, a bomb)

Joker: Folie A Deux - $20M ($190M budget, pacing to finish with less than $400M)

House of Gucci flopped and couldn't make its budget back, and Folie A Deux is pacing to become one of the most expensive flops for a major superhero film ever. Her career at the box office is a net negative thanks to Joker now.

Sure. Applause alone spent more weeks in top 10 than any Britney song except for BOMT.

OT: Gaga, obviously. But Britney had a legendary pop career.

Nobody cares about weeks in the top 10 during the early 2000s because payola ruled the radio and the charts. Britney was a sales magnet and Applause was just a slow-charting flop that got propped up with tons of promo and ads. It's only a hit thanks to a Kia commercial with hamsters :skull:

Gaga objectively. Neither was a fad though.

Sadly we were robbed of a longer and more successful Britney´s career by the people who destroyed her mental health.

while Gaga did a Superbowl (Joanne) and had the most popular act as a feature (Ariana on Chromatica)..

Doing Superbowl is kind of honor in its own way. Its nots like Britney can even hold on stage like that....

Using feature drag, when in 2010s Britney collaborated with Rihanna (during Loud era), Kesha (her peak), Nicki, Will I AM, Iggy (during per peak), G-Eazy :toofunny2:

This is spot on, Gaga outdid B in every department except dancing and albums quality.

To think that Gaga wanted Britney for Telephone. It would have been the most iconic and gay moment in the history of music.

The overall quality of Gaga albums is better than B, but Blackout is better than any Gaga album released till today. Anyway, Blackout is better than ENTIRE CAREERS, so it´s normal not to have an album so good, most pop girls don´t have that either.

Britney dgaf once the conservatorship started (understandably) whereas Gaga actually wants to do this. Not a good comparison.

But both will be eternal pop legends :alexz:

This is the only reasonable answer! Both are amazing artists and incredibly talented. Britney was locked up for 15 years so her career obviously went differently than she might have planned for it to go. I feel like these comparisons are a bit unfair to Britney for that reason.

like hasn't the poor girl been through enough

Does Framing Britney Spears count for Ms. Spears? Cuz that might make it close. But still Gaga :bird:

Although there is potential that Britney could have a decent-sized comeback if she returned to music, Gaga beats her. She just hit 100 million monthly listeners and has a #1 smash while Britney was prepping Glory in her 16th year. Also, Gaga's overall career in entertainment is bigger as she's an acclaimed actress with A-List salary. I don't know much about Britney's ability to sell out a concert but Gaga can sell out stadiums.

She hasn't released a studio album in her 16th year. It's a covers album. A studio album with original songs and big promo is set to come early next year hence its title LG7 with LG6 being Chromatica.

Keep up.

If you wanna talk about it..

The Superbowl saved Gaga's Joanne era.

Britney doing it/holding it's stage, doesn't matter to the discussion tbh. She would deffo get a boost to go Top10 with it tho

My feature comment isn't a drag, just a fact. But your comments on Britney's feature, aren't even logical?
I am talking about Gaga's Chromatica era(her 5th studio album), which truly was saved by Ariana.

Britney's FF (7th era) was having multiple hits without needing a feature. The Rihanna remix (which isn't acknowledged by Brit stans) was just an addition, Nicki/Kesha remix didn't matter to the already hit song.

The Will.I.Am isn't a part of a Britney era. (as if he is a bigger artist than Britney either)

Iggy and G-Eazy songs aren't even registered as hits, so idk why the mention (also, Iggy was experiencing a heavy hate-train and G-eazy has never been big)

Lady Gaga is a failed actress. She's lost more at the box office and even Britney has earned more despite Gaga being in a DC film. Joker's bomb made Gaga a net negative at the box office.

Britney's also bigger in terms of celebrity and Internet appeal.

Not the girls serving Christina Aguilera. Bruno Mars is giving Gaga a hit single meanwhile Gaga just bombed with a studio album, a film AND a soundtrack. Britney has never had a project do as poorly as Harlequin. And it's Gaga's fourth flop album :skull:

Harlequin is a studio album. You have no idea what a studio album is despite being on a pop music forum.

OT: Britney has never flopped as badly as Gaga does constantly. Britney would never bomb like Harlequin.
