i'll never understand ppl who pay for something only to leave halfway. Like even if the mvoie is horrible just sit out and enjoy the theater seat and vibe I guess lol

Sometimes a movie is so bad that it physically hurts to sit through it, tbh.

I love going to the movies and usually go once a week. However, I've only walked out of the theater three times in my life: Red Sparrow (2018), Pinocchio (2019), and If (2024), because I physically couldn't stand how bad and boring they were.

That same pos known for shite like The Hungover directed the Oscar nominated first movie which was also a faux film d'auteur. What gives?

He scammed his way into the Oscars cause the first Joker was pretty much a combination of King of Comedy and Taxi Driver. So yes, he generally sucks unless he's ripping off Scorsese.

I'm more convinced now that Gaga's team saw an early cut, knew it would bomb, and "Die with a Smile" and the LG7 teasing plus the lead arriving very soon after the movie, were moves designed to minimize the damage JFAD would do to her momentum. They made sure to have a bonafide hit record BEFORE the Joker hype imploded after reviews came out, even if it meant hitting up an unlikely collaborator (Bruno) and forcing him engaging in friendly collaboration to give them his biggest unreleased hit lying around. That was not a coincidence, no way.

I think it makes more sense that they thought the movie would be a commercial hit and wanted her next era to benefit from the hype / GP attention. If they thought the movie would flop, it would make more sense to push the album to 2025 to avoid it being caught in the negative attention.

Thank you! Musical hate is so forced. Though, it might be warranted for stuff that wasn't originally a musical but was turned into one, like this, wonka, mean girls, etc…

Imo, stuff that's a musical in its origin is super cool and there I would agree it's cringe of locals to blindly hate.

I watched Mortal Kombat in theaters on recommendation from a friend and it was actually painfully bad. I don't even think I made it to the halfway point before I got my stuff and left.

Musicals are hated right now. Praying for Wicked

Nah, people just hate regular stories being turned into musicals. The Wicked movie was always a musical and meant to be a musical so that one is safe

I don't think people hate musicals. People hate when Hollywood is trying to force musicals down everyone's throat by tricking them into watching them. And studios trying to hide the musical aspects of movies as much as they can in the advertisement is becoming more and more common.

The problem is they thought the people that liked the first movie would somehow turn up for this...i don't know how lmao.

In an alternate universe where this is a smash you are posting comments like:

"Of course it did that well, it's a sequel to a billion-dollar movie!"

"It has nothing to do with Gaga lol. No one went to see the movie because of her"

"LOL, the monsters are saying it's a hit because of Gaga when we all know it's because of Joaquin"

"Harley Quinn brought in the masses, not Gaga".

In fact, we can bring back some posts from the internet on other forums where it was exactly what was said. And as soon as it flops it's Gaga's fault :deadbanana2:

Ok but people WORK… it's a Thursday at 3pm. Like you're either in school or at work. Common sense ppl.

Common sense in OGHs is like what the Liddos think when they see a Gaga jazz album:

i pretty much agree with this as a hardcore movie goer and i've watched my fair share of bad films but i usually stick around to see how it all ends

i've only ever walked out once in my life and it was transformers dark of the moon, i just couldn't handle it and as soon as i ran out of popcorn i just sat up and left :skull:

rihgt? Like i'd just eat my snacks, kinda just enjoy the comfy theater seat, maybe focus on the aesthetic of the film instead of the story and acting etc... that's what i usually do if i hate a movie lol. I'd never waste my money and just walk out halfway tbh. When u go to a movie u also typically make sure u dont have anything going on later that night so its not like you are wasting your time either because u generally have nothing else to do cuz u took the time out of ur day to go so idk...i just sit it out and wait and hope it gets better or focus on other things like snacks, the cool dark vibes in a theater nad maybe the looks, hair, makeup etc lol

but why has her branding leaned so heavily into Joker? she's done solo promo, DWAS ties in visually, then this whole extra album too. that part doesn't make sense to me.

Bring snacks with an extra crunch to this as they might drown out some of the musical numbers.

Because what @MatiRod wrote is complete delusion. No one involved was expecting this to bomb. Gaga literally said that she released Harlequin as she was not done with her character. Does that sound like something someone who wanted to disassociate from the movie would do ?

Meanwhile EVERY single headline about this movie before it was released was about it being a "musical"… Everyone who went to see it knew. It's slogan is literally "the world is a stage"… Stop with this narrative.

OT y'all are so weird on here. Gaga is getting praise even from the worst reviews. Movie flopping or not is definitely not on her. She did marvellous work on her character and everyone agrees. This much hate for a random woman who doesn't deserve it is so weird, especially by the fans of a woman who's career is clearly dead and will stay dead forever because of her unethical and unhinged choices. So weird.
