Also if anyone is popular enough they can smash with any genre. Look at Amy Winehouse. Taylor, Adele. Katy 3

They made sure to have a bonafide hit record BEFORE the Joker hype imploded after reviews came out, even if it meant hitting up an unlikely collaborator (Bruno) and forcing him engaging in friendly collaboration to give them his biggest unreleased hit lying around. That was not a coincidence, no way. can you explain Harlequin then…? 10

But I don't think about the album as often as you do though so maybe you tell me. Only because of the playlisting for Happy Mistake, which is not a jazz song.

Katy Amy's album is almost 20 years old, Taylor has the largest fanbase on earth to carry what would be flops, Adele makes mostly pop music, and Katy IS a flop compared to Gaga but especially compared to the other artists you just grouped her in with. None of these artists (specifically the ones that are not... dead) are putting out jazz and classics cover albums. The communities that consume this type of music are mostly gone at this point, that's the truth. Albums like this are doomed for failure if you're going to measure them against other genres and sounds that a majority of the earth consumes and are statistically the most popular. That doesn't negate the fact that Gaga sounds better than ever on this record. 4 2

ctlp27 Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I don't buy the narrative of people walking out because it's musical. They walk out because they are bored or not into it. No one walked out of Wonko or Mean Girls which were hidden-marketing-musicals and there was def no backlash about it. J2 was trailer-ed with dances and singing so... 2

Bubble Tea Posted October 3 Posted October 3 I love Gaga but I have no interest in the Joker franchise. Seems like a throwback to the early 00s when all media was made for infantile teenage boys teas. 1

Cleanromantic Posted October 3 Posted October 3 Just realized JFAD is an accurate acronym and not just something made up by atrlers 10
Miles. Posted October 3 Posted October 3 This is why you don't make a musical out of a comic book movie Comic book fans and musical fans have almost zero overlap. This was always going to be a catastrophic bomb
