It's great and real music. It was never meant to smash LMAO. You are literally dumb if you think a jazz album is gonna smash in 2024. Again, use common sense ppl

According to Gaga it is a vintage pop album. Also if anyone is popular enough they can smash with any genre. Look at Amy Winehouse. Taylor, Adele. Katy

I'm more convinced now that Gaga's team saw an early cut, knew it would bomb, and "Die with a Smile" and the LG7 teasing plus the lead arriving very soon after the movie, were moves designed to minimize the damage JFAD would do to her momentum. They made sure to have a bonafide hit record BEFORE the Joker hype imploded after reviews came out, even if it meant hitting up an unlikely collaborator (Bruno) and forcing him engaging in friendly collaboration to give them his biggest unreleased hit lying around. That was not a coincidence, no way.

The solo album broke the record for the most streamed jazz album last I checked. But I don't think about the album as often as you do though so maybe you tell me.

Only because of the playlisting for Happy Mistake, which is not a jazz song.

2 week in theaters then on netflix in november

at this rate it will hit digital at the end of the month; they need to make money out of it somehow and fast

i think people would be more willing to check it out on streaming. honestly after the first test screenings were very mixed to bad, Warner Bros should've released this an HBO Max exclusive to save face but i guess the first Joker movie was also very divisive with critics but was a smash with the audience

The way it's not even a jazz album when half the songs are not.

Spin that excuses wheel again, Liddos!

It's mostly jazz and classics/broadway-esque covers, songs and genres that literally no one streams.  :deadbanana4:

Amy's album is almost 20 years old, Taylor has the largest fanbase on earth to carry what would be flops, Adele makes mostly pop music, and Katy IS a flop compared to Gaga but especially compared to the other artists you just grouped her in with.  None of these artists (specifically the ones that are not... dead) are putting out jazz and classics cover albums.

The communities that consume this type of music are mostly gone at this point, that's the truth.  Albums like this are doomed for failure if you're going to measure them against other genres and sounds that a majority of the earth consumes and are statistically the most popular.

That doesn't negate the fact that Gaga sounds better than ever on this record. :clap3:

Does this mean the world is gonna proclaim 10/4 as the new 9/11? Lee's impact is strong I fear

I don't buy the narrative of people walking out because it's musical. They walk out because they are bored or not into it. No one walked out of Wonko or Mean Girls which were hidden-marketing-musicals and there was def no backlash about it. J2 was trailer-ed with dances and singing so...

Why do people keep making musicals that nobody asked for? Wonka, Mean Girls and now this. It's possible to tell a story without the characters bursting into song every 5 minutes

Wonka and Mean Girls were both hits, though

I love Gaga but I have no interest in the Joker franchise. Seems like a throwback to the early 00s when all media was made for infantile teenage boys teas.

So you don't like musicals and you bought tickets to see… a musical? Make it make sense. :deadbanana2:

I (like most people) was under the impression that it was a thriller movie because it's the JOKER

nobody want to see a joker musical  and it wasn't even a good musical

Just realized JFAD is an accurate acronym and not just something made up by atrlers

This is why you don't make a musical out of a comic book movie :deadbanana2:

Comic book fans and musical fans have almost zero overlap.  This was always going to be a catastrophic bomb :hoetenks:
