Not when evermore is better than folklore, Midnights is better than her other pop albums sans 1989, the 3 AM tracks are discography highlights, and Anthology is stronger than Midnights. TTPD standard 13 is the "weakest" output of the past 5 years and that's just a one off. 4
selena_lavigne Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Do The Beatles or Taylor Swift have even one album as good as A Year Without Rain, Selena Gomez's 7th best album? Where are my threadmaking right? My rights on this website got STRIPPED. 😭😭😭 Edited October 2 by selena_lavigne 8

Your commitment to this bit is commendable, it's almost as believable as Rei was. (If anyone remembers them) 5

bringdanoize Posted October 2 Posted October 2 No, because she deserves it. The only thing I want that she will surpass them by releasing legendary albums in the future. We don't need another TTPD.

No one uses them in streaming era, only few living straights left listening to their dusty old vinyls Their streams are absolutely insanely huge for songs that are 60 years old 3
LadyDiana Posted October 2 Posted October 2 53 minutes ago, PoisonedIvy said: They impacted the music industry greatly, they invented a lot of subgenres within pop and rock music that still exist to this day. They also revolutionized a lot of the production techniques at the time, even before computers & recording software existed; they basically created layering, for example. They're essential to music history even if you don't listen to their catalogue (I don't) so I recommend at least recognizing their influence even if you aren't a fan I was just... being Swiftie 2
Romova99 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 No cuz I dislike the Beatles but I will when she surpasses Madonna
Doctor Dick Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Well I'm afraid if anything it will most likely only be on Chartmasters and will only highlight the advantages Taylor has over the others more for the GP resulting in drags and negative comments for Taylor. We all know she's not really going to ever surpass them because of how streaming works and how many more markets she and every other active artist can track sales and listeners from than past artists have had.
WhateverYouWant Posted October 2 Posted October 2 No, especially in the streaming era. There is a clear difference between acts like The Beatles, MJ, Madonna ect. vs. Taylor Swift and no amount of albums sold will put her on the same level. It is however a impressive feat to achieve if she does. 2
Rihinvention Posted October 2 Posted October 2 No. Possibly hot take, but I've never liked their music, with the exception of 'Here Comes The Sun'. I think it's possible to recognise they were revolutionary whilst simultaneously feeling like their music doesn't hold up in the same way that 70s disco or 80s pop does. I've always found The Beatles' music kinda dated, when a lot of old music still sounds fresh…
Ayanaa Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Who cars. In 100 years The Beatles will still be remembered as the pioneers of pop. Taylor Swift will be remembered as just some succesful artist of the early 21st century.
Achilles. Posted October 2 Posted October 2 Can't wait to be a middle aged man posting "It takes 4 men to equal 1 Taylor Swift" on whatever social site is in use by middle aged people at the time. 1

She would need to double her current career so far which… is not happening anytime soon. But she is probably the only artist alive who has any shot at the moment. Edited October 2 by byzantium

Brikenbur Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) I don't care about Taylor or The Beatles so no. It's the same with The Beatles currently being No. 1 artist or group or whatever the fact is — does anyone in "real life" care besides stan culture on X and ATRL? lol The music industry as a whole is not what it used to be pre-streaming, pre-social media, etc. None of this matters tbh. Taylor and her fans still care deeply about this obviously, and so do newcomers, but the GP literally is living through Hell on Earth and music and entertainment is so accessible nowadays, so Edited October 2 by Brikenbur
