Shelter Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Crazy he gets to profit off their story without permission. 3
Kern Posted September 28 Posted September 28 He's so gross for this. Making a homo erotic show based on true story about sexual abuse. I feel bad for all the victims of sexual abuse and trauma 4

I found bizarre how that Jeffrey Dahmer show had bits showing how painful it was for the families of the victims when media used the stories for some quick cash, when that's exactly what the show was doing. I'll never watch anything from that trash man ever again 6
ATRL Administrator Ryan Posted September 28 ATRL Administrator Posted September 28 1 hour ago, Squall said: I don't know the true story but based on what you are saying, isn't the show actually faithful to the truth? It’s not. They represent Lyle, the older brother, as an unstable bully of others (and Erik) who casually threatens murder of other people. Erik is portrayed as a closeted gay who is attracted to his older brother. At one point they even showcase a point of view that the reason the brothers murdered their parents is the mom caught them getting each other off in the shower (with a scene of them doing it btw) it’s full of homoerotic moments that go heavy on exploitation and it’s so unnecessary. 7
Generation Braindead Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Murphy is a real monster for his reaction. It should be illegal for him to portray a story without their rights or approval. 1
Ger Posted September 28 Posted September 28 I am so over Ryan, his statements this time have been absolutely deplorable, his attitude dealing with this case is just gross. 2
MariahC Posted September 28 Posted September 28 The actors who play the brothers should definitely get all sorts of Oscars, emmys... They're so talented ! Especially the one who plays Lyle Menendez. 1
UnusualBoy Posted September 28 Posted September 28 He is an idiot and yeah, he made the show so oversexualized for no reason.

Jesus Christ. I wasn't going to watch this **** regardless but even more so now. And if I remember correctly, the mother was also abusing her sons mentally and sexually, not just the father. Many years later after watching documentaries on this case, I'm still not sure if they were justified in murdering their parents. I firmly believe that they are the victims in this case and they were threatened with violence by their father if they left or ever told anyone. It's one of the wildest and most challenging cases. I don't know what I would do if I had been on the jury. I do sympathize with the brothers and see their parents as their abusers. I just don't think killing them in the way they did was the best choice to make. 1
Phaunzie Posted September 28 Posted September 28 (edited) Shocker, Ryan Murphy would be an American Horror Story, with his lack of empathy and horrible attitude. Like you would think after that his constant borderline glorification of serial killers, obsession with sexualizing tragic male figures and writing the most cliched porn scripts, Netflix would step in. This is the second time, this man has ignored the subjects of tv shows and forced them to relive traumatic experiences. I believe it should be mandatory to get consent and give final say to subjects of a tv show like Dahmer and Monsters. Hell, knowing the true crime community, these people will be harress and stalked. mxoonlight Posted September 28 Posted September 28 "It's not like we're making any of this up" so the hypersexualized homoeroticism of them is completely on the record as happening got it. Weird *****.
FireFade Posted September 29 Posted September 29 besides the obvious $$$ aspect of these shows, his obsession with twinks is getting WEIRD. hang it up, grandpa. what an ugly statement. 2
freshoutthebuffet Posted September 29 Posted September 29 RM is so I haven't watched any of his shows since 2019. I think the last AHS season I watched was 1984, first two seasons of American Crime Story, and a few episodes of Glee. His productions are low vibrational as hell and always leaves me walking away with negative energy and emotions. Doesn't shock me that he's this pompous. 1
Cheers Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Im starting to believe the rumors that Ryan Murphy "sponsors" these hot, up and coming actors and that's why they're always in some super sexual scenes 1
eleganceislearned Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Ryan has all the uncouth, messy insensitive tendencies of an online stan. Observing his work throughout the years I've realized there's no line he's unwilling to cross - this is a man who used Elizabeth Short (victim in the Black Dahlia case) as a character in a Real People Fic-type way to have a horny sexual affair with characters he created for his horror show. Just an incredibly tacky thing to do. He also spoke disrespectfully about Olivia de Havilland and acted like she had no credibility when talking about her own life. I personally think him getting into true crime like this is a BIG mistake for him, he's just asking for more lawsuits, loss of credibility, and bad karma coming his way. 1
EdgeofTeeth Posted September 29 Posted September 29 He has always done questionable things and crossed lines but this show took it to another level. Flippantly injecting sexual undertones and incestual homoeroticism into a true-crime story of child sexual abuse is truly revolting, but then to come back and justify it as disrespectfully as he has… This man is deranged and sick and I shudder to think of the things he has probably done behind the scenes. Freak. 4
Jay07 Posted September 29 Posted September 29 The same thing happened with the last show, the survivors came out and said they were being revictimized. Just don't let this creep anywhere near real life tragedies, just let him make his fictional bottom of the barrel unnecessarily sexualized stuff. 1

All these incredibly gorgeous, young actors who I'm sure are beyond excited to catch a break just so old weirdos like him can film them in the nude and get off to it. It's all so blatantly in our faces. 4
Miles. Posted October 1 Posted October 1 What a vile, evil man. It's one thing to create lecherous, salacious, poorly-constructed shows that rely solely on shock and sex to attract viewers, and if he was working fully within the realm of fiction things would be different, but the way that he shamelessly profits off of real victims' stories, trauma, and abject misery is downright disgusting. To see that he has no remorse whatsoever after doing this multiple times is chilling. I can only imagine the exposes that are going to come out about him in the future. 2

Very weird that he always feels the need to have traumas be sexualized 1
