She already talked about it and you didn't like her answer. Stop it and move on. You're missing the point, if you're going to opt to do something so wildly controversial in order to create art, you therefore must expect to people to ask about it. She would gladly talk about him if woman's world had been a success. The fact of the matter is it's her creative choice and process. If you're promoting an album that's a big part of what people want to know. She didn't give an answer to the question previously, she rambled on about motherhood. You can't court the media like she does and then just go mute when the narrative ain't suiting. At some stage she will have to address it just like everyone else in the public eye that fall foul to controversy. It actually looks like she's things to hide by taking this route and if you're a fan surely you'd expect some acknowledgment on her part about the widespread disappoint to fans and women alike. 10

Grizzo Posted September 27 Posted September 27 what are they gonna ask her then? it's not like we want to know about her artistry or the inspiration behind this uninspired and soulless album full of trite lyrics and boring melodies "Gimme Gimme is quite deep… can you tell us how this very special song came to life?" 13

Like, did no one in her team see the backlash coming? From the controversies surrounding him to the media storm it was bound to cause, you'd think someone in the room would have said something, everyone probably just went along with it like, "Yasss queen"! I mean, she chose to work with him, he's the main producer on her record, and now she wants to ban any questions about him? If you're going to make a choice like that, you have to be ready to stand by it and deal with the criticism that comes with it. It feels like she's trying to have it both ways, and it's not working. This could've all been avoided if she'd just taken a step back and thought about the bigger picture. The decision to work with Dr. Luke isn't something you can just sweep under the rug and pretend like it didn't happen. Stans and media aren't going to ignore it, and banning questions only makes it look worse. This just proves she's a bad person. Not even the F of a feminist. How can you claim empowerment and female solidarity while continuing to collaborate with someone like Luke? Shouldn't her PR team know better by now? I truly don't understand how you as a public person would even let a situation like this happen, for you own good - for your own positive media mage. She should have done a singer-songwriter album with Thinking of Yous and called it a day. Katy and Capitol were on the same page, they think Luke = Success and they were both as ignorant as each other. 3

She was a victim all along, suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. Maybe* that will save her career. mess
Saint James Posted September 27 Posted September 27 months later and people are STILL saying she could have had a successful comeback? you have a vital misunderstanding of who Katy is Luke is not the reason she's flopping. Katy is. 1
Saud Posted September 27 Posted September 27 (edited) interesting that she banned the luke question… it's almost like she knows there is something wrong………. (: why would you not talk about him? you chose him and publicly stated you worked with him. Edited September 27 by Saud 1

Like, did no one in her team see the backlash coming? Where was backlash when other artists worked with him over last few years and scored big hits? Let me remind you that he never lost in court and the rest of that case was solved outside of the court privately so he was never convicted of anything and industry made a path for him to return with inviting him back to award shows etc. At the end of the day you guys need to realize something, outside of twitter and forums no one knows who or what dr luke is, she's not flopping because of him. Her bombing today is the result of horrible career management over the last 10 years. There was never really any hype for her comeback outside of few viral tweets, WW had horrible first day streams and that says it all. Add to that lack of streaming and radio support over the last 10 years and you get a flop artist. 3
Elementary Posted September 27 Posted September 27 Imagine the face of the PR intern who had to deliver the message "Miss Perry would kindly request that you avoid asking questions about Dr Luke or the awful reviews her album is getting. Thank you". 6

Katy is. It's both. Luke's sound is dated and the only formula that still works for him is rap. and Katy doesn't have an ear for a hit anymore. Cry About It Later went viral on release and she chose the worst song of the album as the final single instead She also chose to ignore NRO and promote Small Talk instead & then follow up with Harleys, which didn't get sent to radio and was a buzz single only.
Radical Pessimism Posted September 30 Posted September 30 The banning thing is only a clear sign of doing something wrong which in her case working with an abuser. 1
