JoeAg Posted September 26 Posted September 26 i'm bi but no i have not! i'm natty for now and tbh i get discouraged a lot seeing huge bodies all over grindr and sniffies sometimes, and at the clubs i sometimes go to. i'm 5'6 but genetically have a propensity to be below average weight. putting on weight has always been hard but my metabolism has evened out in the past few years (i'm almost 28 and it started chilling a bit when i turned 25) and i've been able to start to steadily bulk. idk if i'd ever choose to go on gear because i'm wayyyy too protective of my beautiful hair genes but I'm gonna try to cut for the first time right after my bday (january 2nd) and bulk a bit more intensely til then!
Slap Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I'm sorry you're struggling with this, it's sad how common it is in our community honestly. I've found that the key for me was devise an exercise routine around what I want not what I want others to think of me. When I was younger it was about having a body that appealed to others. I shifted to focusing on what makes me feel good in my body, things that help condition my body to reduce injuries and chronic pain, and that just make me happy. I feel so much better now and it is more sustainable, and because I'm doing it for me at my pace it just feels right. Ironically my results are so much better and I'm not forcing myself or hating myself like I used to and my body looks better than ever. I also have a kinder relationship with my body and it feels better - and I now have very low body fat and decent muscle (nothing crazy). I do weights, yoga, bodyweight core workouts, and lots of walking. Diet wise I eat whatever with some exceptions: I don't have anything sugary (not like those keto psyhopaths, just avoid anything with lots of added sugar, fruit juices, soda) and I don't drink alcohol. I have an objectively great body but it's nothing compared to the insane gays you see on Instagram discover but I remind myself that they are all doing roids, eating nothing but steamed chicken and broccoli with NO seasoning and they'll probably have a **** tonne of health issues later on in life. Still fucks with my head though. Good luck hun and you just do what matters for you, it's your body so you deserve to feel good in it, not just feel like others approve of it. 1
taylamour Posted September 26 Posted September 26 It's mandatory to do military service here, so all men have a certain level of physical fitness that I don't have (as a foreigner who has never really been physically active outside of swimming)-- so I'm simply trying to catch up lol
Jotham Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I'm not a bodybuilder, but I have a friend who is one and said that I would make a good bodybuilder as I have naturally broad shoulders. It seems like too much micromanaging though.
superben Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I'm not too focused on having a lean body or anything, but gymming helps me with better discipline in staying healthy.
Vespertine Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I wouldn't call myself a bodybuilder, but absolutely not. My day feels empty if I don't get a good workout in tbh. Best antidepressant there is. Great to pick up guys. Keeps my energy up. Gets any frustration out. Gives me a solid hour or two of music listening.
Lady Claire Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Unless you're an athlete/wants to be a part of competitions, for me bodybuilding is useless. Makes no sense to put your health in danger using stereoids and being obsessed with it just to get some IG likes and some gays calling you "hot" But i'm all for everyone to join the gym, build a nice, healthy body but not obsess over it. And that's what i do. Because i feel good and for my anxiety, it does wonders to the body, especially inside. And at the same time you can drink, have fun, eat what you want and just be happy on a daily life. Balance is the key to happiness. 3
HausOfPunk Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I wouldn't call myself a bodybuilder but I do go to the gym with the intention of building muscle and improving my appearance. I first set foot in a gym in 2017 and went on and off for about 2 years. Just when I was getting consistent and making good progress, the pandemic hit, and I stopped all exercise entirely for 3 years. I finally returned last year and have been working out consistently (4+ times a week) ever since. People have started noticing that I work out and I generally do feel better about how I look now, so I use that as motivation to keep going. Plus, I just genuinely enjoy exercising. I wouldn't have made it this far if I didn't enjoy doing it. 1
alfonso12 Posted September 26 Posted September 26 Nope. After hating my body for most part of my life I'm happy to finally feel confident on my skin and I feel like I haven't peaked yet.
Raver Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I try to stay as consistent as possible even on the days I feel like absolute ****. What's harder for me is the eating. Gotta eat more than what I'm used to (I would only eat one meal a day before). My goal isn't to be this huge Sam Sulek type bodybuilder but definitely tone up and grow my muscle on my arms, thighs, chest, and ass I work out 3 or 4 times a week & try to get at least 7k steps 5 days outta the week Coworkers and family have noticed a difference
YourFavoriteWeapon Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) Yes because my boyfriend loves my lil tummy and curves He really lessened my body dysmorphia by being super attracted towards me Edited September 26 by YourFavoriteWeapon
Comedor Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I go to the gym because it's healthy and makes me feel good. A fit body comes as a consequence. I'm not ripped, but have a good shape and that's good enough for me. Not gonna lie though, if I were single I'd probably be more worried about having a jacked body.
YouSmellLikeHospital Posted September 26 Posted September 26 I alternate between running and cycling and do at least ~100 sit ups a day, but lifting weights is so mundane for me and it is a pain to actually go to the gym. I procrastinate so hard and talk myself out of going. I've been a grand total of one time to the most recent gym I've been a member of, and when do I go, I use the stair climber or elliptical instead of going for the weights It is so much easier to just go out the door and go for a run or ride. I lost so much weight from running and cycling and my leg muscles are crazy now. I'm finally at an ideal body weight and have been able to maintain it for a while now, though I need to tone my arms and chest and abs more. I have weights at home ranging from 5-15 pounds that I lift sometimes but it is so boring to me and I am not consistent with it. How do y'all find the motivation? Guys are really wowed my calves/legs, but I want my upper body to be proportionate to that.

Something like Hyrox training, Crossfit, orange theory, F45 (which i do and enjoy). I recently tried to quit F45 to save money and go to a regular gym but I absolutely loathed going, so tedious and boring, so I'm back 1

There is an Orange Theory right by my house. I previously did hot yoga and spin classes and those were enjoyable and had me in great shape so I think you are on to something.

Pikachoo Posted September 26 Posted September 26 (edited) I just can't stand lifting weights. It's a chore to me. these days I only manage to go once a week. I prefer running. as someone said you just step out and go. no commute. Edited September 26 by Pikachoo
toast Posted September 26 Posted September 26 The benefits () are nice tbh, so no. But it's important to keep your body image in check and do it more for health than for aesthetics.

chromatico Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Not really keen on becoming a bodybuilder, but I started working out with a PT about a year ago and it's definitely paid off. My genes also help though, I'm tall and have a somewhat athletic build, but need guidance and someone to push me at the gym.
JonginBey Posted September 28 Posted September 28 Last year, I got my first gym membership and even had a personal trainer. I went at least 3 days a week. I just wanted to tone things up and get rid of my "bird chest." I went for about 4-5 months, and then completely lost interest. While I loved the results, it started feeling like a chore; and I found myself watching the clock. Not to mention some of the employees there were a little shady, and I was tired of being approached by them with different ways to try to get more money out of me. They also make it hard to cancel ANYTHING.
HANZ94 Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I don't like going out that much or drinking alcohol in general which makes the workout hobbie a lot more sustainable you maybe find me working out at the gym on the weekends or even Sundays I am gonna keep doing this for the rest of my life cause honestly what else would I do? lol and I've been getting lots of great results lately and it feels so good when everyone else (family, friends and coworkers always tell you how big you are lately )
katara Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I go to the gym to stay healthy and active for 40 mins 2 times a week and the byproduct is that my chest, arms, legs and back got buffier. I don't like the too muscular look. I much prefer the natural look of "soft" muscles like this:
