It's helped reinvigorate the Eras tour by providing new material, but she hasn't done much promo for the music itself, and as a result, it's not gaining as much traction as Midnights. Also, the variants and various vinyls are still out of control lmao She only has 5 vinyl variants, which is nothing next to most pop girls, for instance Charli's tally is at 19 vinyl and Chappell released 4 variants on top of the ones available before for the album's anniversary , it's only the digital variants that got out of control and those were only available for 24-48 hours. If anything her vinyl related mess is not pressing The Anthology, which MANY are waiting for. Edited September 25 by Popboi. 2 1

I feel like a lot of people gave it one listen (if that) and called it off...which isn't hard to understand since it is such a long album. But it's kind of blossomed into one of her best albums for me. but as a non-stan, how can we/me/I listen to 30+ songs in a row? It's mindboggling. I mean, it's cool if you can get into it and take up 2+ hours of your day, but how do non-fans? 2

Taylena Posted September 25 Posted September 25 It's still amusing to me that this forum keeps trying to portray TTPD as an underperformance for Taylor, when in reality, it currently sits at 5.5 billion streams just from Spotify and is pulling in 13 million daily streams - all without Taylor promoting it beyond the first week or any massive, unavoidable hits driving its numbers. 2
Raphy23 Posted September 25 Posted September 25 I can only speak for myself and I haven't consumed much of Taylor's music since TTPD dropped. It disappointed me a lot, and other artists have been grabbing my attention more in 2024. 1
Walk_Away21 Posted September 25 Posted September 25 I personally haven't streamed her since she released TTPD leading right up to summer It's also way too self wallowing 2

I think TTPD would've made more sense by itself after The Eras Tour concluded. 1
chiliam Posted September 25 Posted September 25 you guys really need to stop with the TTPD flop panned narrative. Its really not. Certainly not a flop but actually a certified smash even for her standard. The reviews could be better but not a panned project and most importantly it has its unique spot in her discography amongst fans. Like half of us would drag this to hell and pits but half of us truly love this essential Taylor albums that focus on lyrics and would put it in the top half of her discography, myself include. its not a project to gain new fans like 1989/folklore but no one unstan because of this album, we all stay and most of us appreciate it for what it is.

I mean, it's cool if you can get into it and take up 2+ hours of your day, but how do non-fans? Exactly, I get that 100%! And I think she knew that when putting it out; she just had a lot to say and knew her fans would eat up all of it, so she put it all out. I do sometimes wish she put out a more condensed version of it and then labelled the rest as bonus tracks, because there are some career bests here that I think are being overlooked by casual listeners unfortunately (because I get it, I'm not going to be super eager to listen to a 31 track album from an artist I only casually enjoy). But at the same time....I kind of love how the length doubles down on the chaos and messiness of the album and state she was in. You can tell it was a lot she needed to get off her chest, so it's kind of cool that she made a move like this at the peak of her career.
Bill_NewRomantiks Posted September 25 Posted September 25 The US number is bigger last year because of the tour, and Midnights has many active singles on radio and playlists carrying. TTPD is doing fine, may get a cute boost next month, the overall success is still a question comparing to Midnights. And yes, I think a lot of you don't like this album, it's fine, it's never meant to be a big pop thing thats beloved and easy to digest like Midnights But if u assume it's failure and GP hate it, it's gonna be hilarious, multiple songs passing 200M streams and 300M in just 5 months isnt something yall fav can do.
Strawberry Bubble Posted September 25 Posted September 25 This is actually a very good question. I'd say that, while she hasn't lost her momentum (The Eras Tour isn't over yet), TS11 was one of her last chances to release an album as big as 1989 or Midnights, and to truly penetrate the zeitgeist. I really think she should've waited until 2025 to create her best and most memorable album. This could've been her last big chance to create a song that would transcend time and truly capture the zeitgeist. Let's see what direction she takes with TS12—it will likely reflect a decrease in her popularity. But, whatever. 1

Calvin Posted September 25 Posted September 25 TTPD is a smash. 2.61 million debut 15 weeks at #1 Still top 10 It didn't destroy any momentum. She was never going to keep 4/5 albums in top 10, that was just insane. 2023 was just on another level. 1
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted September 25 ATRL Moderator Posted September 25 Yes obviously, I see her struggling to sell over 100 copies next release
Holiest Dreams Posted September 25 Posted September 25 As others have said, the tour is what brought her to those massive heights in 2023-early 2024. She's reached a new peak in Europe and peaked in Australia, Singapore, and basically any place she's toured this year. But those are smaller and less globally relevant markets than… *checks notes* the USA. We will see what holiday season, autumn, and the last leg of tour in US/Canada does for her numbers I almost feel bad for anyone actually delulu enough to believe TTPD impacted her momentum and let themselves get giddy about it. You can't even use the "but variants, but it only sold a lot first week thanks to fans preordering" argument when it's sold almost 3M more outside of its first week. A number nobody else is seeing overall except Morgan Wallen, and variants contributed very little to them. The conspiracy theories/copium from OTH are going to be at an all time high when Reputation TV, Debut TV and TS12 perform spectacularly. Because it's the normal, not Qanon'd prediction to make about what's next for an artist who's coming off the biggest tour of all time and [insert all her other unprecedented accomplishments in the past 2 years here] 6
Klein Posted September 25 Posted September 25 1. She was touring the US last year when she ended with 5 albums in the top 10. The tour has been over for more than a year in the US. 2. It was the peak of Taylormania, with 1989 TV, Cruel Summer and The Eras Tour film all smashing simultaneously. 3. I don't know who posted it, but the "she was doing 20-30M more daily streams before TTPD was debunked. She's doing roughly the same numbers now that in the weeks leading to TTPD. Simply put, it's not sustainable to keep getting 100M daily with 5 albums in the top 10 like in the late summer/early fall 2023. It's not realistic. 2

Badgalbriel Posted September 25 Posted September 25 It has nothing to do with TTPD. The biggest tour of all time is over in the US, which means people will be less likely to stream her music.
