All the amazing ladies, from Aaliyah, Ashanti, Ariana to Beyonce to J-Lo and Sabrina Carpenter! All have been her daughters at one point.
Kayseri Mantisi Posted September 22 Posted September 22 What do you mean by mother of pop? She's definitely a mega legend and no one can deny that, but for right now she's the mother of christmas and that's it maybe. None of the current popgirls and current soundscape is influenced by Mariah to call her someone's mother... and by current i mean like the last 14 years or something...

TaylorsSquad Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Mariah probably thinks she's too young to be a mother 2

To say she hasn't influenced any of the pop girls, especially of the past 14 years () is just factually wrong. I just took a look at the CURRENT H100 and wrote down the names. There's literally so many more girls that were influenced by Mariah.

Rihinvention Posted September 22 Posted September 22 Honestly, no. I think Gen Z and Gen Alpha would struggle to name more than 5 songs, which is crazy because she has like 18 #1s on the Hot 100. I think the longevity of her hits has been hurt by the fact that her videography isn't as strong. She and her label put so much emphasis on "the voice" (which is the antithesis of being known as a "visual artist") that there wasn't a lasting visual to accompany a lot of her hits, which would have made them more memorable. 1 1

I mean, doesn't that apply to MJ as well, or even Madonna, who's being named the Queen of Pop? Edited September 22 by genio
