Rep2000 Posted September 16 Posted September 16 (edited) The Kats are delulu and frankly sabotaging her career right now. Capitol is actually being very generous with Katy for keeping her after 2 (about to be 3) flopped albums, while other singers are dropped with just a flopped single. The level of entitlement, far too much. Edited September 16 by Rep2000
Rihinvention Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I know it's already been said, but Capitol have actually done a great job financing and promoting this record. It's the music that's bad. And the PR crisis is making it worse. Melodically, it's fun. The production is polished. But the lyrics are weak, and cringey. An SA scandal + a branding problem + poor lyricism is a recipe for disaster. No amount of performance/MV budgets, fashion/looks, or polished melodies can save that.

Jay07 Posted September 16 Posted September 16 The person directly responsible other than Katy is her A&R for pushing her to work with Luke and she should never work with them again.

As much as I'm also discouraged by her collabs with luke and think she kinda deserves to flop now, I don't think the label is doing what they should to promote the album. Where's placement in the playlists on spotify?
Navyofbadgals Posted September 16 Posted September 16 Actually hilarious. Katy's playlist support is very much in line with what she should get given her last releases. Not a single label will push her more rn than Capitol is doing. The remaining kats should honestly be happy that they've gotten an era with 3(!) music videos in today's climate. Take what you can get and just enjoy the music because charts are the last thing they should focus on 1
MonsterNavy Posted September 16 Posted September 16 (edited) Capitol is still spending money and investing in her after back to back to back to back to back to back flop albums and singles since 2017 no other label would be stupid enough to do this for her so idk what the katycats are on the katycats wants chart peaks, streams and sales when they should just be enjoying their fave's music. katy already gave yall 3 singles and music videos but its still not enough for them? that shows you how bad the music has been since 2017 that even her own stans aren't satisfied. thank god my fav wasn't chart obsessed cause look how ungrateful these katy stans are because of how chart obsessed katy was Edited September 16 by MonsterNavy 2

Where's placement in the playlists on spotify? It has been cleared multiple time, spotify don't want to invest in her anymore. Woman World has excellent playlisting on both AM and Amazon, radio deal, youtube ads, high budget music video... Only thing it was missing was spotify playlisting, that made it clear that its Spotify who are hesitant to put her new songs on playlists.
TomTom Posted September 16 Posted September 16 We've come to the point where Katy stans are envious of independent artist Kesha's playlisting after calling her a flop with one hit for years 4 1
Infernal Paradise Posted September 16 Posted September 16 (edited) Sigh. "KatyClowns" is a very fitting name for this fanbase. The fact that they don't understand that despite her label pitching her songs, Spotify editors have ZERO incentive to playlist her songs (especially on their signature playlists like TTH) because they are all a) terrible and b) surefire bombs. Her audience has been steadily declining for the past 3 eras. She's NOT an A-lister anymore and NO amount of playlisting will save **** like she's been putting out so far. If anything, they should be thankful that Capitol still keeps her on their roster for nostalgia-fueled streaming royalties from her 15 year old albums. Edited September 16 by Infernal Paradise 5
Sugar-Rush Posted September 16 Posted September 16 I'd certainly like to know what exactly Capitol gains from their investment in Katy at this point. Are her legacy streams really that good or does she have dirt on Capitol's CEO? Because it's wild to me that they continue to fork over the cash for her music videos and other things despite the vast majority of her post-2014 singles flopping into oblivion. 1
Spicy Pisces Posted September 16 Posted September 16 16 years of career and 10 years since her last hit, but Capitol is the culprit for lack of playlisting. 1 1

Tbf what else does Capitol really have? They've invested some in Ice Spice but she has already peaked too + is extremely local. I also think some of the investment, at least initially was because they saw this as the last chance at making Katy "hot" again no other label would've even invested as much as Capitol, because why would they; most labels have plenty of artists that are more relevant currently and far more worthy of an investment
