Onyxmage Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) Again? She said she was stopping after that Yoga song then released 2 more albums. Anyway I need visuals for GO GO GO before her next 3 month hiatus. Edited September 13 by Onyxmage
Slap Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) Love her and hope she doesn't stop. It's amazing she's done what she's done and she's obviously a niche artist but had lots of fans like myself who really pick up what she puts down. I totally get her feeling this way because people are so negative and unrealistic with her, judging her production value etc. and it's like she's doing this in her own how about some kindness - like she's obviously not making bank from this and doing it for her fans and to keep making her art. People on this forum need to support indie artists financially instead of being snarky about things and buying the 4000th variant of an MPGs re-recorded album. If you want to continue seeing diversity in the industry and for niche queer music to be celebrated then you need to spend some money on it. Edited September 13 by Slap 3 1

And she's lost Don't confuse her for YOUR FAVES because she's anything but that. She's been through hell and these are the type of comments she see's and gets discouraged. 4 1
LittleCupid Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Usually when people write these things I don't care but I really liked Brooke and I've been hoping she could get a hit since Opulence was released. I really hope she'll reconsider. 1
Rainbows Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Discovering Das Me in 2012 woke something up in me and I'll forever root for her. 2
LustSpell Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Her two last good songs were Happy Days and Living Out Loud... not like she has released much since then

Enjoy adding her to your list of white girl rapper favs who's interest in black culture waned and turned to OF for survival. Who's next?
Kim Petrat Posted September 13 Posted September 13 sexorcism was so good and had pretty big features for an artist of her size back in the day… i think things would've gone different if she hadn't waited five years between projects 1
Archetype Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Her career was obviously never going to be sustainable from the moment she debuted. I really enjoyed Opulence, but she wasn't a very good rapper and she leaned far too much into the pop world without having the talent (specially vocal) to do it.

Same discovered it when it came out too and back then (and I can't believe I'm saying this it makes me sound so ******* old) but it was a different time, it was really shocking and so out there. We live in a much more full on era where especially with female rap there's not much shock value left to mine out of sexuality, I love that we're less conservative now but also I think it's worth giving credit to the artists who took those risks and did sex positive music way before it was acceptable or ready to get attention from mainstream audiences. Kudos to her for doing what she's done and making such a career out of it. 2 3

The frustration is completely understandable. She could use the onlyfans money to fund her music career though. I always thought the same thing ! I wish she made another opulence she should have kept going that direction. And the only fans thing is kinda smart if you think about it, its the same thing that Pia mia did ?
BILLIONAIRE✘BOY Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Her people embody "corny" so goodbye. Why did you even start type of thing 1

Who's next? She'd been on my favorite artists list for years. But go ahead and pretend to be woke or whatever to find a reason to hate on her. She's still the same chick she's been for years. Meanwhile, you stan for people who want to actually destroy black communities and endanger POC advocating for Right Wing politicians. LOL. 1

Meanwhile, you stan for people who want to actually destroy black communities and endanger POC advocating for Right Wing politicians. LOL. See here's the difference. You're referring to azealia. I won't try silence a black voice talking about black issues just because I find them challenging. I don't know what's best for black people so it's literally not my place to correct her. I definitely don't have follow her or perpetuate anything that doesn't align with my values, which you know nothing about. the difference here is that Azealia makes acclaimed art that is timeless and has undisputedly influenced and inspired a generation of artists after. brooke has always been a rude club girl who fell into making rap music. What has she done for POC which she happily borrows from or any of the people in the rap community? 1
Dolce Vita Posted September 13 Posted September 13 yeah she's spiralling right now. seems like all the bad career decisions over the years bit her in the ass; it's weird how her peers were able to grow their fanbases whilst everyone just ditched brooke for some reason 1
Reginald Posted September 13 Posted September 13 She had a good run, it's been over a decade now. Maybe she should just focus on her art (offline) and not worry about these apparent "incels."

Keep in mind the "borrowing" in question is probably the dreads or braids. Lmfao. You claim to care about POC then simultaneously say you don't know what's good for poc communities. What a ******* joke.
lauvender Posted September 13 Posted September 13 (edited) this is sad, i feel like Sia ruined the trajectory of her career. She came in just as Brooke was getting the most attention, i'm thankful for Opulence but everything else she did with Sia/RCA was a dud and did nothing for her. she should've released an independent mixtape in 2013 and stayed independent or signed with an indie label. Going the pop route wasn't for her, it alienated people that found her for her nasty rap style. Being shelved wasted tons of her time when she had a bigger chance at more success. But whatever. she's still releasing her album & going on tour btw, so it's not retirement (yet) Edited September 13 by lauvender
NastyAF Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Such a shame, her discography is flawless, I'll miss her.
BrattyBottom Posted September 13 Posted September 13 Lol I'm pretty sure not a single soul cares. I like some of her music but she's so unlikable, cringe and she looks easy to draw. 1 1
