eleganceislearned Posted September 13 Posted September 13 11 hours ago, knewbetterpt2 said: her speech was a perfect example of her never just standing by her own decisions. pointing fingers and calling people out for "hating" and "needing to touch grass"… she would be better off saying "Luke is my friend and I don't care that he's a serial predator" cus that's exactly what she's trying so hard to dance around in that speech! Pretty much this. Her performance was pretty good. I was previously starting to feel a wee bit sorry for her with all the huge below-the-belt personal lashings coming from all angles of the internet and media, but then came that awful speech. She came off bitter and she showed she'd learned absolutely nothing from this entire debacle. I'm not sure she can actually come back if she can't read a room and realize what a monumental mistake she's made, not only personally and morally, but even on a professional and superficial "keeping up appearances" level. She doesn't have a sizable Nicki Minaj, or even Trisha Paytas-sized fanbase where she can afford to stand in controversy and still get away with these bad decisions. Also related: There's this podcast I listen to called Fixing Famous People where these two gays ruminate & try to think up ways to fix certain people's career who are on the decline (they work in the entertainment industry & also have a lot of entertainment industry listeners), they had an episode about Katy last week. One of their conclusions was that she should just retire and no, they weren't even hating on her & legit enjoyed a lot of her work. I'd never heard them come to that conclusion for anyone before. 4

We have no idea what her contract agreement is and it could be that she is signed with her label to make X amount of albums, with the producers her contact obliges her to work with (Dr Puke)…. She is brilliant, but maybe a puppet under some very restricting agreements. I wouldn't be surprised if in years down the line, when she is a contract-free artist, what we learn - again - about the devastation inflicted on artists by record labels. I imagine that since the Kesha and Britney saga, contracts will be bullet proof to save their a**. Katy did great and didn't deserve to be booed. how many times do we have to drive it into your thick skulls for you to understand basic English. KATY TESTIFIED IN COURT IN KESHA V DR LUKE THAT SHE DOES NOT HAVE ANY CONTRACTS UNDER LUKE. 1 1

Personally, I think the decision to work with Luke is terrible, and I honestly can't understand the logic behind it or how the pros and cons were even debated. It's a dumb move, both morally (which she clearly doesn't care about since she doesn't believe Luke's guilty) and from a PR standpoint (because obviously, people were going to be pissed). But the way some of you are completely trashing her history and accomplishments is just pathetic. You can't even have a normal conversation about her career. I'm pretty sure you'd still hate on her no matter what she did. It feels like some of you just feed off the drama and hate she gets. She's been your punching bag for a decade, and now you're just using the Luke thing as an excuse to fuel that hate. Don't get me wrong, I think it was incredibly dumb of her to work with him, and you're totally right to criticize that decision. But tearing down her whole career because you dislike her? That's just unserious. Y'all say she's been over since 2014, yet here you are still fixating on her every move 10 years later. You sure give a lot of attention to someone who's supposedly "over." Yup exactly. Us Katy fans are equally calling her out for the luke association (except for a few fanatics), but the way haters act like our whole fanbase is tryna find excuses to justify that is just funny to me. Kinda further proof that the luke thing is just an ammunition for them to dump their decade-long hatred for this woman in 2024. Also her speech is about so many things that she has gone through in her career since the 2000s, and it was a Vanguard speech so she was obviously gonna encompass her whole career struggles in it and all of them are very valid, yet ofc the haters are tryna twist and link every word in that speech to the luke situation. That's just frankly dogpiling and a reach. Edit: the dislike on this post is from exactly the user who my last two sentences were referencing btw, that tomtom person. It's funny how that person camps out in Katy threads 24/7 just to dislike posts. The obsession Edited September 16 by Witnessed ET 1 1 3

There was no mask to begin with luv, I am allowed to defend Katy Perry when people spew blatant lies about her. And in this case it was done in a sarcastic manner (like most people do on this site). The user I was referring to was trying to gaslight me into believing the "boo'ing" was louder than the applauding and cheering, which is simply false as can be observed in the video. And what do you call it when someone hears things that aren't actually being heard? But thank you for your very useful and important response to this particular post I made nearly a week ago. 3
