jonapova Posted September 11 Posted September 11 The fact that she mentioned the AI thing too. She made us all eat our words. Whew
KylieistBoi Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I don't understand what the online fuss is about. For Taylor everything is about timing. I'm sure she had plans to endorse Kamala for president when the timing was right and there might've been a conversation with the campaign too. I think she needs to do at least one campaign event in Pennsylvania for them too. 1
helpthomas Posted September 11 Posted September 11 i'm lowkey highkey an OTH but did anyone genuinely believe she was a republican? like come on
Shelter Posted September 11 Posted September 11 The pressure (Is she a secret Trump fan article) got to her 2 6

BlueBlue Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Wow what a suprise. It's not like she endorsed Kamala already in 2020

bjorn Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) So many celebrities are so afraid to make a stand. Is Taylor the first one of the big celebs who's dedicated a whole post to who's she'll be voting for? I've only seen some celebs re-posting stuff on their stories im glad Taylor can be the first and hopefully this will spark others to do as well Edited September 11 by bjorn 1 6

Mr. Duff Posted September 11 Posted September 11 She did well with the post, just sharing what she thought but making sure everyone does their own research and make their own choices. I'm afraid even with this there will still be bashers and haters. The world we live in But I applaud Taylor for doing this. The courage If I'm being honest, she doesn't owe us anything like this - her political view is not something the public should consume and view. I get it, she will be a big help to this election, but her views are not owned by the public. 2

There are actual religious and political extremists willing to resort to terrorism over the Israel-Palestine conflict. A silly little pop star should not be forced to speak up on something like that (she shouldn't have even had to speak on the election but **** it, she did.) I am all for a ceasefire, the end of the genocide of the Palestinian people, and the return of the land that rightfully belongs to them, but I'm not looking to entertainers for that support. I'm looking to the politicians and legislators that deal with the international affairs. B*llshit. "This issue runs deep!" is textbook Zionist propaganda to keep uneducated people in the West away from it. This thread is full of swifties and even non-fans talking about her influence/power, but she's a "silly little pop star" only when it's convenient for you. What happened to being afraid of crazy MAGAs shooting/bombing her concert if she speaks against Trump? Y'all been running with the "she isn't speaking up about anything because she's protecting her fans in concerts" narrative for months to excuse her silence regarding anything remotely ~political only for her to come out with a calculated and timed Harris endorsement. Several artists have been touring globally and that didn't stop them from addressing the genocide. Hell, she couldn't even bother opening her purse or sharing a damn fundraiser in-between all the "buy version #113 of my new album <33" stories on Instagram. I stopped expecting her to say something about Palestine months ago, because she would have done it by now if she wanted to, or when she ignored the BDS calls to distance herself from Israel when her film was showing there. But the way some of you constantly find a new excuse for her silence is so infuriating. 3 hours ago, PoisonedIvy said: I for one don't expect any civilian to be forced to publicly dissent on international affairs. I do expect the civilians that care to not focus their energy on antagonizing and berating the bureaucrats of society, and instead channel their activism towards the proprietors of change: world leaders and legislators. But we can agree to disagree, because this is a sensitive subject and this isn't the thread for it. Taylor Swift is not a normal "civilian". She is a billionaire, the biggest pop star on earth, and one of the most influential figures in the entire world. Public pressure from influencers and celebs is very important. Yall are literally bragging about her power here. You can't have your cake and eat it too. Edited September 11 by State of Grace. 6 3

But speaking up and donating still matters, especially from someone with a platform and fat purse like hers. We don't know if she does or doesn't donate to Palestinian relief. Like, we literally just don't know. And we are not entitled to know. If she decides to make that information public someday, all the power to her. In the meantime she has not taken a stance on either side, and that's her right as a citizen of the US to exercise her free speech and only speak on what she wants to. I'm not gonna waste my time begging billionaires to use their voices for positive change, I'm gonna use my own voice in the ways I choose to and uplift the voices of others that share my sentiments. If one day that happens to include Taylor, cool. If it never does, that's fine - nothing lost nothing gained. The Palestinian genocide is an extremely pressing issue. It is an urgent matter of human rights violations that needs to be solved sooner than later. Spending our time begging Elon Musk, Taylor Swift, Mark Zuckerberg, Beyonce, or Bill Gates to call for a ceasefire is time wasted when we could be demanding more from our legislators who can actually bring about change at the political level. America needs to stop supplying Israel with funding and arms. We need to demand the president accelerate a ceasefire. We need to get the hostages home. And we need to restore Gaza & the Palestinian people's rights to self actualization. Taylor Swift ain't gonna do any of that for us and there's no use waiting for her to or whining about it not happening. 1 1

The billionaires that you mentioned have a huge influence. Public pressure works. Cultural boycotts work. Sporting boycotts work. They just don't have a moral backbone to speak up against Israel because Palestinians have been and continue to be seen as subhumans. 2 1

liquiddiamonds Posted September 11 Posted September 11 (edited) Y'all need to stop with this whole other girls ****. Trump is no new candidate. Most girls mentioned here (Beyonce, Taylor, Gaga, Olivia, Billie, etc) has positioned against Trump at least two election cycles ago, including Taylor herself. A lot of those singers made big noise when Roe vs Wade fell through too. Olivia has been wearing "VOTE!" tank tops while performing on GUTS tour and her name was dropped here twice. Billie has mobilized voters against Trump at least since 2020. Others have donated, licensed their music, etc Hardly every pop girl liked here is a Trumpster… People were treating Taylor differently because it's fun to **** on her here for many users, since a hug was never indicative of anything political, unless she was hugging Trump on a rally or something. Starting a crusade against people that very obviously are against the orange man is truly NOT it…. Having said that: we need to go all in because polls are showing a tight race. So people everywhere in the US need to mobilize whoever they can for blue votes. Do not focus too much on celebrities. As good as it is when they use their platform, ground-level mobilization by real people is still the way to go Edited September 11 by liquiddiamonds 4

I choose to protect my peace and not care about them. We all seem to agree on the issue re: Palestine; we can disagree on Taylor's silence on the conflict. I'm leaving it at that. 1

And she willingly, and openly, goes public by endorcing a genocidal maniac with no actual note on accountability, just a total endorsement of Kamala and her politics. ******* vile, as per usual. 1 21
