Aristede Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I feel so bad for Gaga. I feel like she's going to take all the blame for this and it is going to seriously damage her acting career, if it doesn't end altogether. I worry they'll be afraid to cast her in anything else because they'll think she's the kiss of death or something. And to think, it probably would've been a big hit if it just wasn't a musical. Literally all they had to do is not make the characters sing and all of this could've been avoided. People heard "musical" and decided they weren't going to watch. 1
Soda Pop Queen Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Damn. This didn't just flop, it torpedoed. Terrible, terrible idea to turn a film based on comic book characters into a musical. What audience did they think they were gonna get? Comic book nerds are usually not into musicals and people who are very into musicals are not into superhero/villian comic book media. A prime example of trying to do too much with the source material. Everyone lost. 1
ahauntingnearu Posted October 15 Posted October 15 As a huge Gaga fan I have to say it is SO funny how much of a megaflop this is 2
Bears01 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 Yeah, there's no denying that this is a huge disaster lol. This movie was highly anticipated but audiences flat out said NO

ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted October 15 ATRL Moderator Posted October 15 It's a bummer because this movie looked like it was going to be good But it is what it is. Thankfully this doesn't all fall on her; her performance isn't getting flack and the main thing I've seen is that she was underused (she's apparently only in the movie for 33 minutes??). Plenty of great actors have been in bombs and moved on.

You can tell her team was expecting a 1-2-3 punch of success with DWAS/FAD/Harlequin to usher in her new album cycle and it completely blew up in their face Lol, Gaga updating her Instagram bio with all 3 Gaga now No posts about anything at all in almost 2 weeks. 5 1

Plenty of great actors have been in bombs and moved on. Yeah no spoilers but considering she's (obviously) important to the plot they do a ******* terrible job of introducing her and making us care. People will dogpile on her now to get revenge on the monsters but Gaga did fine and they definitely did her wrong with this version they put out. She wasn't phenomenal but she was a good actor and her musical scenes were lovely to watch and listen to, they just had no reason to be there
Hallad173 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 The second I heard Gaga was in it and it was a musical, I checked out. I imagine one of these two reasons is why everyone else did too. 1
HANZ94 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I am a liddo but It was so stupid to make the joker a musical the target audience was never gonna be here for that and the story didn't need a sequel this was over since the beginning oh well life continues LG7 is coming
Shaner69 Posted October 15 Posted October 15 (edited) I don't care what the little Jokers say I think that's the new nickname this is a career ending movie. They bitched at Madonna the true Queen that never had a flop like this. Her new single unless a feature is going to be met with resistance. Like the Movie is terrible and nobody wants to here her over the top anoying singing. Plus she goes out of her way to look stupid in Hollywood. Send on the planned solo lead lead single and let's see how the little Jokers deal with this. New wheel bearings or a wheel alignment. Plain and simple this is the biggest Box office bomb by a so called MPG. If I get reported over the truth that is on the news constantly then ATRL needs new Moderators. I rest my case. SarahWalkers Posted October 15 Posted October 15 (edited) Just watched it and honestly, it's not as horrible as everyone is saying. The trailers were just truly well made and misleading, you'd think it'd come out a masterpiece. It's just utterly dull and very pretentious but not really trainwreck territory. The way they setup this up this to be some 1B grossing and Oscar sweeping smash, only to backfire this hard is just hilarious though and definitely one for the history books Edited October 15 by SarahWalkers
Titanbaddie Posted October 15 Posted October 15 So let me see if i understand... Todd Phillips is solely responsible for this bomb but Bradley Cooper wasn't solely responsible for the success of ASIB? 4
