Lady Claire Posted September 12 Posted September 12 (edited) Still good regardless I think it's ok to have a modest opening, if the GP likes it then word of mouth will help the film. There's a lot of cases where critics trashed a film but the public enjoyed. I guess we'll have to wait. Edited September 12 by Lady Claire 2

That's the budget WITHOUT marketing and promotion, so the actual budget is even higher (much higher) Thats one of the problems with this film. The film's budget is unnecessarily big, like, the first one was made for very little money and they should have kept the budget at around 100M for this film. Thus, they could have saved face. The director is truly… dumb to say the least. Edited September 12 by Lil' Oz

She is not the problem here and will remain unscathed regardless of the films commercial performance If an actor chooses panned flops they are part of the problem. 3

Panned flop is a massive overstatement my guy. The movie reviews have been mixed at worst, just like the first film and we still need to wait and see what kind of box office performance this thing has I have never cared all that much about Gaga's film career one way or the other, just trying to stay objective and point out that critcs have been positive about her role in the film which they felt was not utilized enough Edited September 12 by 4th Time Around

ctlp27 Posted September 12 Posted September 12 You need to calm down. It was never expected to match the final gross of the first one. Plus, it's a risky move for two reasons: it remains rated R, and it has musical elements. Even if it opens to $70M, that would be quite an achievement. It might even have strong legs. As long as it hits $200M domestically, it would be a great feat, and the movie should perform well globally. Look at *Twisters*—it bombed worldwide but was a huge success in North America. Not all sequels are bound to be that much more successful than the first. Deadpool 2 made more or less than the first for instance (which is great).

Popboi. Posted September 12 Posted September 12 5 minutes ago, 4th Time Around said: Was that 200 million figure the total budget for the production? It's the movie's budget, promotion is almost always equal to that and then there's the cinema's cut per ticket. A movie needs to almost triple it's budget to make profit.

Well I guess we will just need to wait and see how the movie does at the box office although I am pretty certain it wont get 1 billion like Joker 1 did. Never understood why movies these days require such an outrageous budget and many of them turn out looking like **** 1
Broken Posted September 12 Posted September 12 - Gaga was cut from the movie - it's anti-incel - it's not an actual musical Who TF is gonna watch this? Gaga stans? Probably not. Incels? Definitely not Musical fans? They won't like it not leaning hard enough into the musical elements The GP? They are probably now planning to watch the next Venom movie 1
4th Time Around Posted September 12 Posted September 12 Wait I'm confused, I went and did some reading and all the articles are saying that 70 million opening is very good, even if not on the level of the first movie that had novelty on it's side Why is ATRL acting like these numbers indicate a bomb?
LatinFreak Posted September 12 Posted September 12 DC fanboys not rushing to see Lady GayGa.... Wow. Color me shocked. 1

OT: 70m good numbers for an R-rated anti-incel court-room drama musical 2 1

"There could a hundred people in a room" "Large swarms of flies starting following me around" "Do you ever drink the prop drinks and actually feel drunk?" "I looked for evidence" I'm sure she has something great and not foolish to repeat constantly during this press tour! 13
