Well, since The Eras Tour movie made $123 million of which $90 million were from the US resulting in a minuscule gross outside of the US I wouldn't be surprised if Joker exceeds that. 

 

But it will outgross that local movie even when labeled a flop.

I don't think JFAD will flop that hard that it won't break even, I could be wrong though. JFAD seems like a movie that is decent but just made for the wrong crowd. Kinda like Cats or Amsterdam was for people with taste.

It's failing because the movie has an element people do NOT want to see. And that element is Gaga and her music, even if (you claim) she's "just a supporting role". A supporting role which is featured in the movie title, poster, trailer and all kinds of promo.
 

It doesn't take a crystal ball to know that if this was a Phoenix solo movie in the same vein as the first one it would have been a hit.
