Okay but all of this is so obviously calculated to maximize the impact of her Kamala endorsement. When it happens all will be forgiven and everyone will act she's so brave!1 and like she solved world hunger or something and not endorsed a genocidal war criminal (I wouldn't hold it against her or anyone either looking at the other candidate but still). She doesn't lose much by doing it, as much as I dislike them her fans being Trump supporters is really exaggerated, I'd say only a very small percentage of them are.

And you and I both know that the people around you are a reflection on yourself, for better or worse. Taylor isn't meeting one-on-one with Brittany but is double dating that much different at this point? Once is an instance, twice is a pattern. She's also way too self aware of the perception the public has of her so I'm not quite sure its a mistake as much as she doesnt gaf.

Saw a rumour that the real reason she isn't allowed to endorse Kamala is because of the contract she signed with the NFL (for her relationship with Travis) and the NFL (a largely Republican dominated organisation) wouldn't allow it.

Been thinking about this a lot ever since Brittany Mahomes first came out as a Trump supporter.  

 

I am NOT one for parasocial relationships, and as a Canadian this affects me much less than it could, but I still can't help feeling very strongly.  Taylor's music is a huge part of my life, and I have loved and respected her for a long time.

 

First of all, Taylor is obviously not a Trump supporter.  She spoke passionately against him in 2018 and 2020, and I don't see her views changing so drastically in four years.  I don't think Pfizer spokesman Travis Kelce is one either.

 

Second, she absolutely can have cordial - even friendly - relationships with Trump supporters.  I do.  Unless you live in a bubble, this is just a reality of life.  I am sympathetic to the position she's in.

 

However, this isn't just a matter of politics.  Trump - and Brittany Mahomes by extension - stand for things like racism, white supremacy, homophobia, rape culture, and fascism.  Cosigning this is not acceptable for anyone, let alone a woman who has made a career out of relating to - and becoming deified by - young girls. 

 

Now, everyone has the right to remain silent.  Taylor certainly has that right.  However, I would argue that being seen hugging Brittany just a few days after Trump himself posts about her is not silence.  I'm sure it's not what she intended, but right now, Taylor looks like a Trump supporter.  Again, I am certain she is not one.  But that is the perception right now.  

 

So, she can continue her silence if she wants, but the backlash is only going to grow, and more and more people are going to call her a Trump supporter.  For me personally, that would be a vile insult, and I would do everything in my power to disavow such a notion.  I only hope that Taylor is planning to do the same in a dramatic, empowering way in the very near future.

 

At this point, I do feel it's imperative she endorse Harris, both for her sake, for the sake of her fans, and for the sake of the country.  Because yes, I do believe she's at a level where her voice actually does matter.  Her speaking out could be enough to incentivize just enough young white women to vote in the seven swing states that it could sway the entire election, and thus alter the course of history forever.

I don't believe it is okay or fair to label her a MAGA Supporter, I also think it's weird how the world is obsessing over her political stance when she's literally just outside living her life. She hasn't said anything and the world just keeps assuming.
