Illuminati Posted September 2 Posted September 2 (edited) People watch sports as children, it becomes a hobby that carries on into their adulthood and elder years. I don't think being passionate about a specific topic is age-specific, people don't just stop liking music or art (literature, movies etc) Literally every adult person I've ever met had something they enjoy specifically because it feels nostalgic and reminds them of their childhood. While I think the train station thing is embarrassing and takes it too far Harry Potter was a big part of a lot of peoples lives, the memories they have associated with it don't just go away Edited September 2 by Illuminati

Totami Legend Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Yes if you have traditions like that train thing and spend your time making cringe memes like this No if you're a normal fan who watches the movies and reads the books and you don't claim the witch who wrote them
Da Vinci Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Enjoying the movies, shows, games is fine and I think everyone agrees on that I don't really care if people do it but dressing up as the characters and getting all the merch and going to the parks with other people also dressed up as the characters is not for ME! Same goes to anime and cosplay or whatever, like good for you but I wouldn't be caught dead in that But fighting over pop girl stats and defending millionaires and billionaires as if their profits will go to your own pocket is infinitely a lot more embarrassing though!
starsailor Posted September 2 Posted September 2 No, but it's embarrassing if you still act like a teenager about it. With the age, you become more mature and stopped to be fanatical, specially because your life changes and all those messages stops to ressonate with you. But there are a difference between Disney, animes, Harry Potter and etc with popstars, bands and musicians in general. An idol is way more powerful for your life.
byzantium Posted September 2 Posted September 2 (edited) It's embarrassing to exist. Just come to terms with it. And no, this idea that you are not supposed to love things and experience certain joy feels like a sad life that puritans would come up with. Also, this never applies to straight men and their love of sports. Edited September 2 by byzantium
Tropez Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I think after the age of 21 yeah it is. Usually after that age, you're wrapping up with schooling. And in a year or two you have your career to focus on. Don't see how you can be online stanning all day when you should be working, socializing, working out, even going on dates, whatever.
prostitute pickup Posted September 2 Posted September 2 People are so judgmental in the words of myah marie, manjobi 1
Loca Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Another poll with private votes Yes, it is very embarrassing 1 1
Totami Legend Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Pushing 40 waiting for your hogwarts letter it's crazy 1 2
Dancehall Queen Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Having hobbies past 25 is a female thing to do. Why are you a man not focusing on providing for your family? 1
Mr. Blue_Shirt Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Of course there's nothing wrong with consuming your favorite media entertainment, no matter what age you are But if you're over 25 and treat media consumption as your whole personality to the point that you're willingly to defend billionaires and big corporations, maybe you really need to step back and reevaluate your life 2
enchanted0 Posted September 2 Posted September 2 I loathe Marvel but literally who cares. Let them enjoy what they like is it ever that serious?!!
Big Bad Wolf Posted September 2 Posted September 2 1 hour ago, Feanor said: Inspired by the replies & quotes to this thread/tweet, plus other discussion I've seen on Twitter over the years of people dragging adults who are big fans of pop culture franchises such as Harry Potter, Disney, Marvel, Nintendo, Lego and also big stans of artists & actors. Emphasis on big fans, as in dedicated fans. I'm not talking about casual fans who only enjoy those things on a surface level, but of those fans who really dedicate a lot of their time and money to whatever it is they're fans of. So how do you feel when people call out others, mostly adults, for still being big fans/stans of Harry Potter/Disney/Marvel/Pop Girls etc. after a certain age? No, it's embarrassing to think you have to stop enjoying things at a certain age.
Subzero Posted September 2 Posted September 2 You guys are so miserable Life is cringe, enjoy whatever rhe hell you want while you can. We're all gonna be worm food anyways, so it doesn't matter in the end 1 3
MonsterNavy Posted September 2 Posted September 2 yes, i'm turning 30 in 2 years and i'm leaving yall "embarrassing" fwords here forever jk ofc not do whatever you love at any age like... its never that serious 1
alexrex Posted September 2 Posted September 2 (edited) I often make fun of HP fans (just for the shady comments and the giggles). But seriously speaking, I don't see anything wrong with enjoying something that you relate to and makes you feel happy. No matter what age you are. As long as it does not interfere with your life as a grown up, it shouldn't be something to be ashamed of. Spoiler What's embarrassing is to stan Katy Perry after all that has happened Edited September 2 by alexrex
Mikeymoonshine Posted September 2 Posted September 2 It's not being a fan it's the behaviour. Why the hell are adults still showing up at King's Cross Station every year? It's cringe! Fandom should remain in fandom spaces. Like I talk about the artists I like on here and other places online but I'm not bothering people in my day to day about them. 1
Dula Peep Posted September 2 Posted September 2 At least pop girls are real people that exist in the real world like… ...but yeah it's still embarrassing 1
Littlejfrey Posted September 2 Posted September 2 When you cross the line and start arguing with other people because they don't like what you like, then yes, that's pretty embarrassing 1
LustSpell Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Jesus ****, grow up. You're sitting on a site arguing about pop girl charts and facts. It's easier if you mind your business and live your own live enjoying what you enjoy.
