YourFavoriteWeapon Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Like other users have stated here, it was 50/50 and I feel like they both helped each other out. The only ones acting like Gaga didn't help the song out in any way are deranged OGHs scared of her potential takeover after years of declaring her over because "911 and Hold My Hand flopped!!11" 4

Gaga has needed collaborations for every top 3 single she's had since after The Edge Of Glory in 2011, so... She didn't NEED Ariana. As it became evident when Stupid Love dropped, her fanbase alone are able to give her a Top 5 debut. With or without Ariana the song would've been a Top 10 single. She also didn't NEED Bradley, if Shallow had been solo it would've smashed the same way. 6
jdanton2 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 both are but i voted for Bruno since the song is more in his style.
Doctor Dick Posted August 27 Posted August 27 All of those collaborations smashing and her solo singles since ASIB flopping are just coincidences. HMH wasn't given lead single treatment or big promo even on TTH. And was a soundtrack single of which 90 percent flop. And Stupid Love wasn't well-liked. There's literally no others to back up your claim since she re-peaked. Rain On Me would've smashed regardless because it was well-liked and super catchy, the only thing Ari helped with is to get it to #1. But without her it would've been a hit anyway. Bloody Mary and Always Remember Us This Way smashing the way they did without being given official single treatment proves that there's still an appetite for Gaga. 1 3 1
Blade Posted August 27 Posted August 27 30 minutes ago, Yes, AND said: Neither. Massive playlist reach and no 1 on TTH. If Womans world had that it would also be in the top 10. You do know it was #1 on Spotify Global and Spotify US before it was #1 on TTH? Well you do now Woman's World is the biggest lead single bomb of all time. 1 5

UnusualBoy Posted August 27 Posted August 27 They both helped, Gaga has the fans and Bruno the GP so together they made it work

bringdanoize Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Gaga debuted top3 multiple times, solo or not. Bruno has never done it. So the answer is pretty clear, no? 3
tshwark Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Bruno is still the golden boy, gaga already flopped so many times. 6
alexrex Posted August 27 Posted August 27 They helped each other But who is willing to help Katy come out of her third Bionic era ? 7

Mirkomonster Posted August 27 Posted August 27 The Katy stans obsession with Gaga is at another level. If only they invest their time to stream her music maybe she Will be on some charts and not on planet unbothered on IG while Gaga is #1 WW

Oh yes, we can never forget the radio pull Bradley Cooper has for a song no one (mentally stable) associates its success with him. For delulu OP's question, the answer is in that Bruno has never had a solo #1 Edited August 27 by Lawssance

He has Just The Way You Are, Grenade, Locked Out Of Heaven, When I Was Your Man and That's What I Like OT: Both are using this song as a comeback, both have large fanbases (Gaga the online Stan Twitter type, Bruno the GP types who think only he knows what Real Music (TM) is) so... both!
Punky Rooster Posted August 28 Posted August 28 (edited) The one with more #1 singles and an AOTY Grammy. Edited August 28 by Punky Rooster
dumbsparce Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Little monsters are responsible for the big debut but it is Bruno's huge gp appeal that will give it longevity. Do you seriously believe that if it was a solo Gaga song it'd do better than if it was a solo Bruno song? Why is that such a preposterous thing to say?

Do you seriously believe that if it was a solo Gaga song it'd do better than if it was a solo Bruno song? Why is that such a preposterous thing to say? It's preposterous because an ancient solo Gaga song went mega viral enough LAST YEAR to go top 10 on radio and because ARUTW is dog-walking numerous 2020s hits in recurrent streams. A solo Gaga soundtrack song also almost went top 40 just two years ago when 99% of soundtracks don't even crack the Hot 100. The fact is that this forum loves to downplay Gaga's commercial success so while Gaga isn't solely responsible for this song smashing, it's just as preposterous to say Bruno is the sole reason this smashed. Both had relatively similar Billboard stats before this launch so it's moot to see which solo version would have theoretically smashed harder because we'll never know. 1
SignificantOther Posted August 28 Posted August 28 Gaga hasn't had a top 3 solo hit in over a decade, so Bruno. 5
