Panic Attack, Dog Years, Letter to God (1983), Darwinism, Lonely is The Muse, Lucky, and The Great Impersonator are instant faves.

Her songwriting is stellar on this

Lessons is like top three of all the songs, what a beautiful song

I gave this a listen about two days ago and it's been on repeat almost consistently since. I struggle to say anything coherent at this time, but I do truly believe this is one of the most emotional "mainstream" albums of all time. She poured her heart and soul into this and you can just tell because every single song is essential. I still have not heard any of the bonus tracks, though.

Yay at the predictions! Also love all 4 deluxe tracks. So in total, 22 songs for this album. She wasn't lying when she said it's her longest!

23 if you count Lucky (stripped) on the Japanese version

Finally managed to listen to the whole album and wow, what a stunning record. So sad, so crushing... the lyrics hit me extra hard because I have a family member undergoing chemo. :chick3:

The first Letter to God made me so emotional. So sad to hear her basically begging to God to just end her suffering. But at least on the last Letter to God, she says she finally found love. I hope she's doing better now, and I hope this album brings good things to her. I'm glad critics are recognizing the artist she is.

I didn't really connect much with Lucky and I Never Loved You, but every other track felt really special to me.

Oh wow, and here I was hoping for a top 20

What went right? This is in line with her other non-Manic debuts :clap3:

If 'Stevie Nicks Attack' sticks and good wom spreads then we might see some decent longevity.

I really hope she gets the number 1; she deserves it for this beautiful, emotional piece of art. :chick3:

You don't love the flames, you just want them for yourself

Douse @SitarHero's Top 5 in kerosene, horizon into hell

And you smothered out the glow I grew for you

But it was mine too

I have a feeling that as the times goes by this will become bigger. People just need to discover it. And I see a lot of people on the internet that are hesitant to take it seriously because it's Halsey's but I'm sure it will get it's flowers in time.

Edit: Also I think the cover is inspired to by Ashes to Ashes by Bowie but I can't find any confirmation. Does anybody knows if there's a connection?

Her best deluxe / bonus track since 'Heaven in Hiding' maybe? I feel like the 80s portion of the album is missing something more new wave inspired  and upbeat like this.

The losers from Pitchfork gave a 4.8, of course :bibliahh:

They're still butthurt over #that tweet, thankfully it'll be the only bad score

Pitchfork is so mean to her, how are you going to give a 7.6 to an Ice Spice album that is lyrically horrible and a 4.8 to this one for not being remarkable in the lyrics? Pff ridiculous

There is absolutely no convincing argument to be made that G-Eazy's songs about Halsey are taken more seriously than Halsey's about G-Eazy, so you have to wonder about the purpose and value of this song; is it to conjure a sense of victimhood? To make some listeners feel bad for not exalting her genius? There's no accounting for how someone feels, obviously, but as a listener, it's jarring to hear a passage like this, whose indulgently sad veneer hides a convenient rejection of its author's own agency and talent. Does Halsey see absolutely no irony in claiming she bears the weight of millions of fans' expectations before, 40-odd minutes later, reducing her own output to "a couple diamonds"?

They're not great at channeling artists from eras gone by, nor are they a particularly sharp assessor of modern celebrity. So what then? Is it enough, as The Great Impersonator so clearly wants us to believe it is, to say you've suffered for your art, and your fans, and call it a day?

this is so :coffee2:

its hard to think that someone listened to the album and this was their output on it

their arguments are nowhere compelling enought to justify a 5-6 score, let alone 4.8

It was written by the same loser that gave Kylie a 40 on The Guardian, apparently he likes the attention bc he knows it'll be cOnTrOvErSiAL on social media. a pig tbh
