The deluxe tracks so far are nice but a little too on the nose with their retro pastiche, where as the album stays true to its concept in such a way where it still feels unequivocally Halsey. I hope they get added on streaming though for easy access.

This album... is a beautiful piece of work.

it's really sad, honest yet so diverse in its sound.

Definitely in my TOP 3 Halsey albums after just one listen.

Favs:

Lonely is the Muse

Panic Attack

The End

I Never Loved You

Arsonist

Life of the Spider

Letter To God (1998)

The Great Impersonator

'Hurt Feelings' has grown on me tremendously. A lot of the songs have these neat little production quirks that sound especially great in headphones.

I Never Loved You

This is probably my least favorite track and is a bit too Taydaughter for me sonically. I also feel like it's missing a percussive element to give it some punch. Literally crying out for big 80s drums with heavy gated reverb or something.

I love the album but I can't connect with I Believe In Magic, Lucky and Hurt Feelings, I made a playlist without those songs and it was a perfect album for me, but not connecting with IBIM feels wrong.

Sales are super slow lately and there wasn't any major release this week… if she pulls 50-60k i think it'll be enough for a top 5. Let's hope

Wow, she really poored her heart and soul into this one... Even more than usual. What a powerful artistic and personal statement.

Spider had me shook, and I looove the title track

I love this album so much and I have so much more respect for Halsey to put this out there. I myself have chronic illness/pain and mental health struggles, I could relate to a lot of her lyrics in this album and her overall State of mind. It touched me deeply and it helps that the sound experimentations she does here are great, nice melodies and instrumentations. I really didnt think she was gonna top IICHLIWP but she 100% did. Its a 95/100 for me. One of the best albums of the year.

Faves on my initial listen: All letters to god, Ego, Dog years, lonely is the muse, life of the spider

Worse: The great impersonator

I Love this! Ego is still my fave :alexz3:

Having had no faith in this from the direction, the singles and the previews, I'm astonished by how much I love this album. So many tracks are already highlights in her discography. This deserves all the acclaim if commercial success isn't realistic.

I can't say I'm super connecting with this album (Lonely is the Muse is absolutely amazing though), but the concept is amazing.
