The reason she worked with Dr. Luke again is because she wanted to relive her past glory or atleast stage a comeback since he's been successful with other artists. She went back because she was desperate. She knew she would get backlash but her desperation for hits was greater. Of course she will come out and say this now that she's flopping. It's the same when she said she's doing it for the male gays but also deleted the gay kiss in a modest edit for WW video. It's all a bunch of pandering, damage control and lies. The fact is she's very bothered but it's good she's keeping calm. God knows this isn't her first rodeo flopping.

She's had more legitimate pop hits during her 08 - 15 run than most successful artists ever get so in that regard, she's right. Teenage Dream era is a cemented cultural reference for years to come when people discuss 10's music scene. Is she still a braindead talentless hack with absolutely no sense of self respect and not one ounce of genuine coolness that ruined what could've been at least a  Circus (2008) sized comeback for herself? She sure did.

I'm srry but what makes you think she needs to recoup the budget? New flash, Katy is not Capital's main cash cow, that's Doja. Also, her discography is more than making up for Capital Records' funding of the MV. At this point in her career, she can afford to flop, her bag is secured and she is a household name. A name that promises brand deals, spots on commercials and a product being sold.  As of today, she is still one of the world's richest women so that's a no on the label not profiting due to WW's chart performance. Using the song, she got a Demon Ear Buds brand deal, so her label couldn't care less. 

 

It sucks that because Taylor your fave has moved on and you haven't.
