Sugar-Rush Posted August 23 Posted August 23 When certain girls release pure pop songs - whether they be house influenced, disco or electronic dance-pop - y'all complain and call those songs generic or talk about how the artistic hasn't evolved their sound. Make up your minds.
awong918 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 (edited) Die With a Smile is a bop though. I heard it on the radio for the first time today and was shook Edited August 23 by awong918
loveisdead9582 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Idk. WCBF (WFYL) and Espresso would qualify in my opinion. TBH Tiktok kinda killed mainstream pop and made sure that it all ended up in a short song that lacks a bridge and a build up to a big finale. Beyoncé went with an experimental album in a genre she doesn't normally do, Katy decided to release generic tracks cowritten and produced by Dr. Puke, and Ariana hasn't promoted the album like she should've. Billie has always been gen z whisper pop (and yes her material is quite good) but her latest album lacks some of the panache that her first album had. Dua released the tragedy that was RO which was a massive letdown compared to FN. Honestly, Kesha has released one of the better bops of 2024 and it just doesn't have the support that a major label release has. 1
Gov Hooka Posted August 23 Posted August 23 To add onto everything already shared here, ToveLo and SG Lewis delivered sublime dance pop with that EP 1
