Do not understand the logic of not bringing Max back for the rerecords when he clearly is a huge part of why those songs cut through and dominated in the way they did Agree with all of this. I am kinder towards Red except the pop tracks are definitely botched. Holy Ground is kind of a mess too. 1

VioletsandRoses Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Ogs. Her deeper adult voice doesn't match the songwriting on her previous albums. The way she botched all the singles on 1989 too 1

He was probably busy with other projects and wasn't going to be able to start as soon as Taylor wanted, so she just went with Christopher Rowe. There's no drama or anything, he was at the Sweden show and she played a Max Martin medley as one of the surprise songs and shouted him out. 1

1989 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Just remember that no matter which version you prefer, we can all agree that the TV for WANEGBT is the actual tragedy of the re-recordings OT: I much prefer the TVs with the exception of just a few songs 2 1
selena_lavigne Posted August 22 Posted August 22 1989 (TV) hits my G Spot better. Style (TV) is amazing.
NEX Posted August 22 Posted August 22 1 hour ago, MissedTheTrain said: Or they just have a different opinion! For me, it depends on the song I've been a Swiftie since 2007 and I think quite a few of the new versions (listed in the OP) came out better than the originals. Most of Fearless was vastly improved by richer instrumentation and her much improved vocals. Like... vs And some others that just shine now more than the originals versions did in my opinion, like You Are In Love. Meh, I would have used this as an example of a downgrade. The original sounds way more passionate and energetic. The TV sounds a lot more subdued and lifeless. This applies to almost every new version of Fearless and Speak Now songs. Yes, she sounds noticeably better in the vocal department, but there's no longer that youthful spark in her voice on any of them. The emotion is missing. It's like she's reading from a teleprompter. You can't tell me that Fifteen OG doesn't eat up Fifteen TV despite certain off key moments on the original. 3 1

Ohh I very much disagree with this, I think the new version eats the original. Her tone is so much better and really carries the song now, and it sounds a lot more effective coming from someone in their 30s as opposed to someone who was literally just 3 years removed from 15 at the time. I think there's songs like Forever & Always where the OG wins because of her conviction and emotion, but I prefer the new versions of most of Fearless. There are songs like White Horse, Fifteen, Breathe, and Superstar that I wasn't really in love with before but the re-recordings breathed new life in them for me.

on the line Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Fearless TV Speak Now OG Red TV 1989 TV except for Style
UnusualBoy Posted August 22 Posted August 22 Most of the TVs sound bad in terms of production but better with the vocals but overall I stick to the OGs. 1

You can't tell me that Fifteen OG doesn't eat up Fifteen TV despite certain off key moments on the original. I can and I will. I am a 2017 and onward Swiftie (despite me thinking rep is by far her worst album), and listening to her older albums is a painful experience. I think what you hear as emotion is really just nostalgia for your own youth and the time you've had with those songs. The first time I listened to Red was Red TV. I've tried multiple times to listen to OG Red, and it is excruciating bad. I'm shocked to see some of you say State of Grace OG is better than the TV... LIKE WHAT?! I refuse to believe we are listening to the same song, and I can only justify people rating OG SOG higher bc of familiarity and nostalgia. 1

Oh lord no, she sounds bored on the TV versions of these songs. The conviction is not there anymore. Perhaps she is far too removed from the emotions she was experiencing at the time to recreate them for TVs. I think Pitchfork picked up on that. Lemme look for their review. "The seconds-long "Hallelujah" in the bridge of "Change" sounded exalted on the earlier version; here it sounds more like a sigh, somewhere between relief and remorse." "In the 2009 version of Forever and Always, Swift sounded wounded as she sings: "You looked me in the eye and told me you loved me/Were you just kidding?" In the newer versions her voice is subdued but more full as she sings those lines, no longer litigating the cruelty of an ex" For me there were no improvements other than vocals. The OGs stay winning despite their vocal flaws. 1
Alldeezy Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I prefer the OG I don't like any vault tracks tbh Will see what TS Reputation sounds like because that's only Taylor album I really really loved
Dysmorphia Posted August 23 Posted August 23 The pop songs on Red Especially 22, and the whole of 1989 lack that "oomph" the original versions have. The vocals are also way to prominent
Kiss It Better Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Fearless and Speak Now are improvement for the most part, they sound fuller and have better vocals Red is hit or miss (the misses being the singles mostly) 1989 is bad especially the vault tracks, they just made Midnights 2.0
4Real Posted August 23 Posted August 23 The ONLY TV i consider better than the OG is change and that's cuz Change OG is unlistenable

I turned it off mid first chorus. im terrified for reputation cause the only TS music I like outside of YBWM, mean, ETHC, Back to December and max singles off red And the title track are REP and 1989. 1989 was a clown show so I'm not looking forward to rep 2
ATRL Moderator MissedTheTrain Posted August 23 Author ATRL Moderator Posted August 23 Ok another one that is 100% better than the original is The Moment I Knew, the original is kinda rough listening back Also, this one:
