Erotic Posted August 22 Posted August 22 It's what Katy and her honestly, evil, fans deserve. They spent years trolling other pop stars only for their fave to become the laughing stock of the industry. 2 5 5 1

Well, let me re-phrase: new standard of flopping for a MPG, ofc there are bigger flops than this era but I don't think any of those came from someone that was as big as Katy was once. 1

brraap Posted August 23 Posted August 23 She's really taking JLO's purse for most panned artist of the year 2

The bar is on the floor this excuse is so stupid of course it's harder for some, but Kesha is a known name with 2 big eras, the fact that her entire album has 20M streams is the biggest bomb of all time. there's millions of independent artists with bigger numbers than this. no one cared for this one (and high road) and that's all there is. even with the recent Joyride sympathy train, the albums are doing less than 20k streams daily. It's hilarious how you guys spent a decade belittling Kesha's success and categorically refusing to acknowledge that Katy in Kesha are in the same boat commercially when Witness/Rainbow and Smile/High Road had very similar trajectories, only for you to now hype her up as a big name when it's convenient to make Katy's floppage look less bad. Absolutely WILD to use an album with no official single with a radio release, no widely available physicals, no available vinyls first week, no CD/vinyl variants, no music videos and no performances released as a last-contract album under an abuser's label who is the very subject of the album as a reference point for Katy Perry's "comeback album", an artist you would have sworn was an MPG a couple of months ago 9 1 1 1

I just know that doesn't let you sleep at night. They never were and never will be in the same boat, I fear. No matter how hard Katy flops she will never be in the trenches like this: Worry about that. Edited August 23 by halcyonday 4

spree Posted August 24 Posted August 24 5 hours ago, Yes, AND said: Highly promoted lol. Where ? exactly. A one day radio deal and a couple of TikTok ads doesn't equate to "highly promoted". It had literally no playlisting or streaming push at all. Still a huge flop nonetheless, but let's not act like they got everything lined up for a great rollout. They messed it all up again. 1 1 2
Sugar-Rush Posted August 24 Posted August 24 On 8/22/2024 at 7:11 PM, Yes, AND said: Huh ? Gag order will always hold that standard. Impossible to match. Nah. Kesha's album was purposely experimental because that was her artistic vision for the project; it was obviously not meant to be commercial. Katy on the other hand is clearly chasing after success by working with Max Martin, Stargate and Dr. Luke on her new album. Her two singles flopping despite known hit makers being on board is much worse than Kesha flopping with a passion project. 2 2

They had everything lined up for a good rollout, playlisting and autoplay (Spotify kept harassing me and many others into streaming) but then the song received immediate backlash and ridicule and the label probably backtracked A #64 peak on the Billboard Hot 100 is the most the label push could do for her. She even booked the MTV Vanguard Award and a medley performance, hoping everything would turn out fine for her, and now everyone is weirded out with the strange timing of it. She has been everywhere and at every event giving herself exposure. Radio interviews, parties at pubs promoting the song. The first video had big budget. Many of us wish our favourite artists had a platform that big. Edited August 24 by ChooseyLover 1 1

Sure cos a party in a gay bar in Barcelona did a lot for her in the US LOL. Try harder. 1 1
