Gaga's hits after 2012 are all collabs. Why?

After her last globally successful album 4 years into her career in 2012 with BTW, Gaga's only number 1 hits have been collaborations. All remaining songs, including lead singles, have either been able to achieve a modest success in comparison with her success up to 2012, or been considerable flops. Receipts below.

With the upcoming release of another collab with one of the most friendly and popular artists to the GP, is Gaga now only able to have a number 1 hit with collabs?

Artists have been called "desperate" for seeking collabs due to assumptions that this is a "desperate" move to have a hit. Has Gaga already been at that "desperate" stage of her pop music career for the past 12 years?

Why is "a hit" only being declared by having a #1? :gaycat5:

Okay but are we going to act like Bradley Cooper is some streaming force singer. he's about as impactful as Colby O Donis. (not saying his parts in shallow are bad but are we gonna act like Gaga was begging him for a hit)

Yes, I want another flop like Always Remember Us This Way, where it gets diamond certifications from France and Brazil, and it outstreams that years #1

Agree with the first three but Stupid Turd is def not a hit. Her comeback pop single after her ASIB peak, with Max Martin on it, and 100M+ playlist reach debut on Spotify still doesn't even have 400M streams on Spotify after 4.5 years.

Your thread title says Gaga didn't get any hits after 2012 yet your post shows that she got quite a few hits (both solo and collab) since 2012

The thread very specifically mentions number 1 hits, with receipts provided.

Lady Gaga has already made her mark in music. She's also making her mark as an actress. She's giving the GP what they want and it's smart. She doesn't have anything to prove really

I'm actually not, and just want to open a conversation about what it means to be a pop star with a long established career in 2024. Are collabs essential for a number 1 hit nowadays? This is the focus of the discussion. Gaga is simply used as an example. I wish her huge success with Bruno's collab.

ARUTW, aka her best song since 2011, is a hit

But the streaming numbers for the other solo songs are embarrasing

I'm not a Gaga listener by any chance but The Cure was a hit in my books, Million Reasons did reasonably well for the climate of music in 2017, and Always remember us this way was definitely a hit too :celestial5: I think everyone knows that one.

Applause and Million Reasons are hits, not monster smashes like the ones on her debut but definitely hits.

ARUTW is without a doubt a smash and I'll Never Love Again has a lot of streams with little to no effort :deadbanana2:
