loveisdead9582 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Rihanna? Yes. Britney? Maybe. Idk if they would force her into doing anything given that any contracts signed during the conservatorship could absolutely be fought against. Do I think she will get bored and want to put out something at some point? Sure. 1
Rihinvention Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Forced? No. Choose? Yes for Rihanna. No for Britney. I love Britney, but I think she's done. Live vocals and solo vocals are an industry standard now. Lipsyncing and having ghost-singers isn't acceptable anymore. Gen Z and Gen alpha will see that as being really cringey. Plus she's really daggy/dorky now, and that's ok. My sister is also a mother born in 1982 and she's exactly the same, despite being the coolest adult I knew 20 years ago.
Princess Aurora Posted August 14 Posted August 14 Rihanna: yes, for sure Britney: I'm not really sure about that 1
Gladiator Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I'm sure both would rather deal with whatever ramifications would come from breaking their contractual obligations. Given that they are rich elites, I'm sure this looming threat of having to release music one day is not significant.
ChooseyLover Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) RCA wants a Britney album and that's obvious since they started arranging things for people to make material for her (we know Charli XCX was approached) but Britney doesn't want that. I'm not sure how ugly that can get. As @loveisdead9582 said she could argue that her contract isn't valid due to the conservatorship since she renewed her contract when Jive Records stopped existing (around Britney Jean era). My guess is that if she's still under RCA that is cause she doesn't care about her brand at all and she's procrastinating this whole thing until it causes her serious trouble. After 4 years since Smile. Selena may drop an album next year. She did say or hint 2024 at a point, but I don't think she's releasing an album this year. Next year seems somewhat likely for her. It seems it might not be a very "era" era, like she won't go all in like the usual pop star cycle she followed with her last few music projects. A few singles and will drop the album. She might even go on a short tour for the fans and a few performances here and there. She will likely continue to release droplets and hop on collaborations. But another album after that seems unlikely. She might even release another one if she feels like it, but not for the next 4-6 years (after the upcoming one), so not necessary it would be her last one. Xtina is working on an English album. Maybe next year for release. I think Adele might release an album in 2026? 1
Mephisto Posted August 15 Posted August 15 I think Rihanna might release one last album when we least expect her to, but it will be because she wants to, not because the label forces her. As for Britney, I think the label might release some kind of a rarities/remixes compilation without her involvement just to fulfill her contract. I think she's done with making new music (sadly).
