I don't think TTPD is overrated at all

No one but the Swifties thinks it's good

Like... that album is so divisive amongst the fanbase :rip:

Melodrama is more overrated than Pure Heroine

TTPD isn't even highly rated as a Taylor album, what?

That Boygenius album is garbage.

Don't really care about their thoughts on more recent albums but these are all objectively some of the most influential albums of all time. Anybody who listens to different decades of music can hear their tangible impact on more modern artists. They even admit to their greatness in each mini-review so what is the point of this rage bait :rip:

I kind of agree with this to an extent. I don't think Kid A is the most amazing album ever but if I had to think of 30 overrated albums it wouldn't make my list.

They're missing that Neutral Milk Hotel album tho.

I didn't know Lungs is overrated

:suburban:

They justification for it is so odd as well

Quote

In September, Florence + the Machine's Brit-winning debut album gets its own Prom. An accolade that, last time I checked, hasn't yet been granted to Spiritualized, suggesting some sort of random symphonic lottery system must be in place. The entire success and reputation of Lungs, after all, is based around three impressive, advert-friendly singles, one of which is a cover playing off Nineties house nostalgia.

Beyond "Dog Days Are Over", "Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)" and "You've Got the Love" – and, okay, the punkish, excellent but sadly unrepresentative first single "Kiss with a Fist" – the album is little more than a blustery pagan pop vehicle for one of our most indulgent and overbearing voices. Only the very sturdiest songs survive Florence Welch's wind-tunnel wailing; consider this an amber warning for the first violins to batten themselves beneath the Albert Hall stage and shelter in place until it's all blown over

I agree with what they have to say about Parachutes actually. It's a great album, but seeing people praise it more than Viva la Vida or Everyday Life is wild to me. The experimental aspect of Coldplay's career is ridiculously underrated :gaycat6:

Confessions On A Dancefloor is not an overrated Madonna album. Like A Prayer is.

List invalid immediately.

The inclusion of Kid A doesn't surprise me. This isn't the first time I've heard it called overrated (in critic circles no less!)

I mean I don't care much for Lungs (as a Florence fan) but I thought that was a common opinion

Interesting choice for Taylor! I would've put Red or Lover or Midnights instead.

I love Confessions and it is a stellar and solid album but it is a tad overrated yes

TOTBL getting raked first by Pitchfork and now The Independent

first they love you then they switch

Pop Emergency: Camila barely made it to top 10, what went wrong? - Page 11 - Base - ATRL

Posted

some of these are a bit baffling, i mean who cares about that horrors album anyway now

i don't think TTPD is overrated given that the response to it hasn't been very good anyway, it's sold well but that's a different thing

i don't really care v much about these kind of click and discourse generating articles but they're dragging radiohead, jeff buckley and led zeppelin so :clap3:

How is The Tortured Poets Department overrated when it's her poorest received album in years by critics and the gp - unless they mean it deserves even worse.

I agree with these:

23. Billie Eilish – When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?
16. Taylor Swift – The Tortured Poets Department
11. Arctic Monkeys – Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino
10. The 1975 – A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships
8. Coldplay – Parachutes
5. Florence + The Machine – Lungs

I definitely don't agree with these:

25. Madonna – Confessions on a Dance Floor
21. Lorde - Pure Heroine

The others I don't care, but I would add:

Lady Gaga - The Fame Monster EP
Lana Del Rey - Chemtrails, BB, Ocean Blvd
Beyoncé - COWBOY CARTER
Taylor Swift - Lover, Midnights
Fiona Apple - Fetch The Bold Cutters
Bjork - Homogenic

Agree on COADF, fans act like it's so amazing but it's mid tier on Madonna's discography

taylor is expected lol LORDE entry is the interesting one here bc i was told PH is a classic. :lmao:

And it is. How one thing affect another tho? LOL

PH is definitely not one, but so many bad/mid albums became classics and inspired a whole generation. One thing doesn't exclude the other.
Dangerously In Love, In The Zone, Born To Die, Stripped... they all were trashed by so-called critics, but still were able to influence a lot of artists to this day
