But when Katy tried to be more authentic, she lost her entire appeal, and still flops to this day even if she tries to have shallow (pun intended) success

 

Meanwhile Gaga has reinvented herself successfully, authentically and for mass appeal, and has found success again and again afterwards

Britney retired because she was forced on lithium while making music she wasn't passionate about. Christina hasn't retired because she was allowed to keep her artistic passion. This passion, however, never managed to get her out of Britney's shadow or get her albums into peoples' shopping carts for that matter, since her Spanish EP debuted with a measly 5k sales recently lol. I'm glad you're happy about Christina's Grammy win! I'm sure she appreciates it as well.

 

But I wish I could see Britney commercially flop like Christina if it meant I could have the artist I love not have her life altered forever just for her billion dollar empire. Christina won in the sense that she was allowed to be a person, no matter how messy she got in her 20s. She got to live her life. That's her real victory in this "battle".
