I truly believe Camila irreparably ruined his image. The staged paparazzi shots, walking around looking unwashed and unkempt, that weird kissing video...

Everyone and their mamas know the hippie era was shawn impact and mike sabath, camila always been girly glamour with skirt and stuff since 2012,, also all his hit songs are about camila, he benefit from camila even tho camila benefit from him too

He was never very talented to begin with, had a couple of good eras, but yeah he did not last for long, bland personality as his music. At this point, I think he might be spent commercially wise.

His Man of The Woods I fear

Posted (edited)

I told y'all this era was gonna be him dropping singles then leaving them for dead outside of the bare minimum. that man does not care about his musical career. He probably somewhere wandering the woods with a joint while the songs tumble down the charts.

He's taken too long of a break and the ppl want bops. He doesn't have the it factor in music anymore I fear. He should stick to modeling, maybe acting, or if he wants to go the easy route

Spoiler

Probably because he got forced by has label to release SOMETHING so he just made some noise and sounds and boom, album

It would explain the length of the album

Granted, I haven't listened to "Why Why Why" yet, but that's a poor comparison. Some folks might consider Boone's voice on "Beautiful Things" grating, but the song undeniably has intensity and a raw quality to it, not to mention some nice rock elements. It's more akin to Imagine Dragons's 2013-2015 work than most of Mendes' music outside of maybe "In My Blood" and "Wonder" title track.

Meanwhile, "Too Sweet" couldn't be further from a folk ballad. It's been labeled as soul with elements of pop rock, and it's a genuine banger. Super catchy chorus and a killer vocal performance from Hozier.

It's also telling that both Benson Boone and Hozier's songs were instant successes despite not having even half the name recognition and mainstream appeal of Shawn Mendes, which doesn't bode well for the latter's chances of resonating with the GP. But you never know.

I think hes more of a radio artist, as in he has had some hits but I never really seen anyone WAITING for the next sean mendes single

if you want to make a country-leaning bop, you need to get a remix from morgan wallen or chris stapleton or something

It's not country music it's folk music.

harry largely cannibalised the market for white male popstars and after shawn's attempts at modelling his career choices flopped he doesn't have much else to explore. shawn was always reliant on radio as a boost to his music so when they decided to favor other artists it was going to be a struggle for him + he doesn't seem engaged with his career.

He's a pretty face, but doesn't make good music imho. He's basically a slightly more popular version of Austin Mahone. :campfire:

No talent and no effort, that's why :clap3: we love to see it.

Eventhought it's not bad and it sounds like a lot of current hits I think the problem is the lyrics. They are very ambiguous and not really universal.

Some little changes could have made it more relatable.

No one cares about his white guy with guitar and no other personality shctick anymore. He needs to go full on pop boy and open up more.

Probably a myriad of reasons:

- almost no promo

- no artistic growth

- not even catchy or interesting

- nothing really new to be excited about for this new era

- haven't heard a thing of any significant new live performances coming up

- people already know when stuff does come up if he flops he will just have "mental health" issues again

- mostly ignores fans

He just doesn't have what it takes to turn his career around anymore sadly. He's had plenty of chances and does the same mistakes every time

He is who ATRL thinks Harry is. He clearly has nothing to say as an artist

Being a watered down version of Ed Sheeran can only take you so far, and even more if the original Ed himself is flopping right now :lakitu:
