MistressKay Posted August 11 Posted August 11 Norah Jones. Sis debut album sold like 35 million copies then she VANISHED lol
jonahorbryce Posted August 11 Posted August 11 How has no one said Vitamin C ??? She was billed as the next main pop girl in the early 2000s, on magazine covers with Beyoncé and P!NK and yet after her debut she just vanished ! Her debut had two top 40 hits, her second album was expected to smash but she fumbled so bad… 1

She could have easily revived her career with that song but she unfortunately did not do enough to promote it. I think that was one of the worst butterfly effects I've seen in pop music as of recent.

Robyn. Posted August 12 Posted August 12 I'd say Fifth Harmony. They had two massive smash hits, but their albums would not sell and they literally fell off when Camila left.

Tayman Posted August 12 Posted August 12 If we talking about MPG, I think Fergie had the shortest solo career.
Soda Pop Queen Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Perhaps the most iconic 15 minute MPG, Ms. Paula Abdul Grand opening - 1988 Grand closing - 1991 1

camilacabelloslaps Posted August 13 Posted August 13 Dev, Michelle branch and Meghan Trainor were good answers, Gayle and tones and I were one hit wonders which is a different ballpark i'm not a huge Katy fan but I am a fan and she clearly lasted awhile, same with Nelly F and Christina … sometimes people let personal hate over power simple facts. Like sorry but the sky is blue weather you like it or not 🥴 I would say Fergie or Gwen but both took a super long break by choice not by flopping and were in very successful groups before going solo Also hate to say it because I love her but Ashlee Simpson

chiliam Posted August 13 Posted August 13 yeah i love Nelly/Gwen/Fergie but they just kinda dissapeared after smashing hard in 1/2 eras in the 2000s. Fergie has big moments with BEP right after though. Katy has like 9 #1 2008-2013, then have some cute hits until 2020, so not exactly a short career

JoeAg Posted August 13 Posted August 13 listen I'm the first to shade/drag Katy for her sh*tty decisions and general dingbattery but be reasonable for a second… her career was way longer than others by other pop girls lol OT: Willa Ford, Katharine McPhee, Eliza Doolittle, Sky Ferreira, Keri Hilson, Natalia Kills, Kiiara, Gayle, Dove Cameron, Kat DeLuna, Jessie J (stateside at least!), KT Tunstall, Anna Nalick (deserved better tbh!), Hilary Duff, Leona Lewis, Jordin Sparks, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield
AaronBryceSufjan Posted August 13 Posted August 13 GAYLE. this girl had abcdefu then I've never heard from her again

It would have to be a true one or two hit wonder, like Katy Perry. I was just having a laugh since this is a very obvious attempt at a Katy-hate thread made by a known Katy hater, but this comment made me spit my water out in what universe is Katy a one or two hit wonder? Some of these haters are so corny lmao ot: Norah Jones? Her album was massive and she was everywhere during that era, and then she just….disappeared. Lorde is one of the most recent examples. Fergie/Gwen/Nelly at least had multiple eras where they succeeded commercially whether as part of a group or solo. Edited August 13 by Witnessed ET 1 1

NextBish90 Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I've never seen even a remotely similar crash like Katy Perry's. She started as a pop/rock girl with music for the late years of teens as a target group, then switched to a extremely tasteless music for toddlers like literally no one over 6 years old would not listen to her as a target group. Birthday was the beginning of the end and Swish Swish really digged deep low. 1
MatiRod Posted August 13 Posted August 13 (edited) Ashlee Simpson She was legit HUGE in mid 2004 (400k first week, #1 pop smash, 3M copies sold) and it was all over by 2006. Edited August 13 by MatiRod
