The answer is Nelly Furtado Of course, I'm open to being corrected but Woah, Nelly! and Loose were her only big eras and after the mid-2000s, she sort of fell out of the public eye. I think there r probably artists with shorter phases of relevancy but idk, she first came to mind From Nelly! (Which is where she started to become popular) to her last hits from Loose is a 6 year period, almost the same lenght that Katy lasted without flopping. And i don't think Katy had a short period, you guys must be trolling? she still had that cute run on Idol, in 2024 she is still somewhat relevant... it's not like she lost all media support and disappeared from public eye. Ashanti comes to my mind thinking about it. In 2003 she was rivaling Beyoncé and a few years later only a fraction of people were still checking for ha. Edited August 10 by TipToe 3
prézli Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Spice Girls is the correct answer. They could easily release 5 more albums.

ericcartman Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Katy lasted 6 years. There are tons of stars who did less than that.

You can have a long ass career being successful but if you have no impact on pop culture it means nothing. The Spice Girls have two big albums in the late 90's and with that alone they will forever be the most iconic girl group of all time.

LegaMyth Posted August 10 Posted August 10 Most Impactful Short Careers Career: * The Beatles * ABBA (Yes, they released Voyage a few years ago, but their impact was already cemented) * The Supremes Others Stars Who Were On Top: * Paula Abdul - (She was one of the biggest female pop stars between 1989-1991.) * Destiny's Child * Spice Girls * N'Sync * Leona Lewis * Missy Elliott - (I know she has been battling an illness, but she has had the opportunity to release albums. Her 8 year span was, however, LEGENDARY) * Duffy * Nelly Furtado * Fergie * Eve * Lauryn Hill * The Fugees * 50 Cent - (He's a mogul, but musically, he's pretty much done outside of touring.) (I did not want to include anyone whose passing is the reason for their short careers.)

naval23 Posted August 10 Posted August 10 19 minutes ago, frankgutz said: Vanessa Carlton too, she had it even shorter than MB imo Vanessa had 1 hit and then a top 30 hit but didn't really have 2 successful eras the way Michelle did (2 top 10 hits, 4 top 20 hits, 5 top 40 hits) Michelle's debut went 2x platinum and then platinum for her sophomore era, Vanessa's debut went platinum and that was basically it for her 2
