Sam is a very talented individual and they will see the fruits of there labor down the line. They basically the biggest non-binary artist right now. That's already something. If Sam truly wants a hit they can always bounce back creating ballads or hac music. But for now they has every right to express themselves however they wants. Plus I dontt think Sam is the kinda of person who wants to be known down line for creating songs like unholy for the rest of there life. Edited August 7 by Happylittlepunk 1

They're not regarded as an icon within queer circles and they're one of the first queer artists non-queer ppl think of. Queer artists ≠ Queer icon. People say Jeffery Stars when asking about queer celebrity does that make him a queer icon? 2 hours ago, Yog said: You make it sound like Sam was an niche artist being marketed just towards the gays when it was the opposite, Sam has literally sold damn near 50 million albums & 300 million singles, gays are not the only ones buying their music.. Consuming their music ≠ thinking they are queer icon. Majority of their sales came from first album which let's fact it being regarded as male Adele's 21. It's straight music. Sam was promoted for straights and about straights before he came out. Before he was a straight friendly artist and now they are a queer icon for queer people, and that's okay, not every queer icon has to be approved by straights! 1

Selling nearly 50M with just four albums is not an easy feat, it's kind of poor logic to use their debut to undermine their success following that.. 1

They don't, Sam has stated many times, that any genre of music is game for them, but Sam definitely doesn't wanna be an controversial figure for too long, if Madonna succeeded in cleaning her image post Erotica, then it shouldn't be hard for Sam to do, I know Sam won't win everyone back but they can win enough to receive commercial success as usual. I don't think they should tone it down, but yes bring back his old sound
