It was great back in 2020 but it quickly became an ok single for me shortly after. Funny enough, for me some Chromatica album tracks like Alice, Free Woman and Sour Candy are way better than Rain On Me.
prézli Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Not really. This song should've been a solo song with Gaga only. 1
SlowGinFizzzz Posted August 6 Posted August 6 It's not even the best female collab on that mid album. 2 1 1
Mighty Oaks Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Lissie & Ellie teaming up ended some careers I'm afraid! Spoiler including their own

It's even more embarrassing when the person in your pfp came out with one of the best collaborations of the year with Charli XCX, and you're out here agreeing about Rain On Me being the "best collaboration of all time", then randomly coming for Solar Power, and then dropping a trash take like "Rain On Me's sound and aesthetic continues to live on and impact other artists" which is currently one of the most delusional takes on this site. Who is getting influenced by Rain On Me's Bloodpop sound right now and who is making songs and music videos like it? I didn't directly reply to you on this thread so you don't need to fume at my reply only & then randomly add Lorde into this, I would rather listen to Solar Power which is completely unrelated to this topic & a way more fresh, unique release which will age incomparably well, yes. Drag a bit sis Solar power is horrendous and aged like milk but so has Chromatica. Gaga fans have no foundation to criticise other people's albums tbh Edited August 6 by Kukai 3
Nico Robin Posted August 6 Posted August 6 everyone suddenly pretending to hate this song Literally THE female pop collab moment of the decade so far 2 4 2
Peroxide Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Screaming at that one user… ANYWAYS. Yes. It's such an anthem. Easily one of Gaga's best ever songs, and the strongest cut on Chromatica by a fairly significant margin. The last 30 seconds might be my favourite moment in Gaga's entire catalogue. Sheer pop-dance euphoria. 5 1
Summer Boy Posted August 6 Posted August 6 yes of course, Rain On Me and Telephone were such events, we need more female collaborations ! Especially with Gaga, since she always delivers. 2
frankvert Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) It's a Grammy winning, culture resetting, SMASH. Everyone was stanning on release but ofc ATRL needs revise history to fit alongside whatever flash-in-the-pan OGH/OAH narrative is being pushed Oh and also House/Dance wouldn't be having its moment rn without Chromatica blazing the way for the girls. Oh Gaga, will you ever stop being a bellwether for pop culture / music trends? Edited August 6 by frankvert 1

Damn is everything okay in the Mantisi household? Sounds like you have some things to unpack in therapy
shoganai Posted August 6 Posted August 6 A cute song but a wasted opportunity, their voices are so opposite but so good together
blown away Posted August 6 Posted August 6 It was very good, but not among the top tier female collabs for me personally. In the category of best female collabs, these two stand out to me.
Migs Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) It's not THE best, but yes, one of the best ones of this past decade. All-time is quite an exaggeration. Edited August 6 by Migs 1

wigglytuffer Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) I used to LOVE Rain On Me, my top played song of 2020 and 2021, but i don't ever reach for it anymore for some reason? I think other users have nailed it when saying it's pandemic nostalgia, it's so closely associated to it for me that I think it's unfortunately been stuck there. It's still an incredible euphoric 3 minutes or so and the promos for it were so cute, i'd say strong contender for best of the decade so far? Best female collabs of all time IMO are: - Lady Marmalade - The Boy Is Mine (1990s) - Telephone Edit; Wait how could i forget Beautiful Liar Edited August 6 by wigglytuffer 1 1
Homebrand Posted August 6 Posted August 6 It's a good pop song but "one of the greatest of all time" is a stretch in regards to female collabs 1
Princess Aurora Posted August 6 Posted August 6 I mean, it's definitely in Top 10 best female collabs of all-time 2
Pop Art Posted August 6 Posted August 6 3 hours ago, Kayseri Mantisi said: what do you mean by "still"? because it literally never was. at this point it's remembered as a pandemic nostalgia, it aged like milk. trying to watch & bop to that in 2024 is pure cringe, it's not a timeless hit. We're talking about Rain On Me, not Solar Power sis. 2 hours ago, Kayseri Mantisi said: I would rather listen to Solar Power which is completely unrelated to this topic & a way more fresh, unique release which will age incomparably well, yes. It seems you're in the minority then. Spotify Yesterday Rain On Me: 225K Solar Power (Album): 167K 2 2 1
ericcartman Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) I already forgot about it, how are the recurrent streams? Edited August 6 by ericcartman 1
americanlife Posted August 6 Posted August 6 It's incredibly dated but it is a great female collab. 1
